One of the things I do as a Master Merchant is help people sell thier wares.
I do this is by renting out barker droids, placing an extra vendor to advertise another player's vendor on the planetary map(if that person does not want to climb up the merchant tree), and for a small fee, selling things for people with no merchant skills.
This new change efectivelykills the value of the Advertising tree. Although it is severely flawed now, I do not see SOE removing the bazaar vendor search feature, but instead improving on it. Why do I say this? Despite the opposition of the majority of the merchants to the system, SOE rammed it through anyway and also put up an extreamly messed up system to boot. This is something we are going to have to learn to live with, but SOE could have had the decencyto address the problems with it before goinglive... and there was plenty talk of those issues beforehand.
The whole idea of a MMORPG is to have interaction between players. We had special skills that people seeked out . Now they took that away. Anyone can have thier vendors searchable galaxy wide with a minimal investment in skill points.
Since SOE does not value the merchant class in SWG, I suggest they eliminate it and give us some sort of compenation for having gone through the trouble of learning it and using up our skill points.

Yep. They are devolving the merchant class to match the EQ2 system of buying and selling.
Since there was no open discussion about the bazaar cap being raised, they don't seem to care about player opinions anymore. They are going to do what they want.

Well if you read all the fourms no matter what server, you will always see ppl complaining about having to run around all the vendors looking for a specific item.
Well thats why they game in and produced the search facility. Yes it will kill off the vendors. it will make all the non-vendors happy, saves them wasting time finding empty or not available items.
Just like in the Real World, the intro of online ordering, no more walking around the shops, just sit at home and use the computer. This is also destroying the shops, more are closing down becuase they cant compete with the big shops who can afford to undercut the street price.
Well I for one will take the hit and not put my vendors on there. I will continue to rely on word of mouth and reputation. And when that stops, well we will see.

How many pure online business are profitable? Not many. What happened more was that the older businesses revamped their business. And in real life, you actually have to wait to get something delivered. And that delivery also costs money. And you don't have perfect knowledge of every instance everywhere in the world.
