Thread: Question about being a merchant

Surrender Skill:Players can place vendors or merchant tents, surrender Merchant skills, and still retaining the use of the vendors and merchant tents. This undermines those that are merchants, and makes our class a throw away. NO OTHER CLASS IN THE GAME ALLOWS YOU TO RETAIN A SKILL AFTER YOU BACK OUT OF IT!!!
I smell an argument coming on.
Yeah, I don't think it's quite fair, either. Only reason I asked is that I've got over 700 crates of powerups, Muon, etc. on one vendor, a few dozen extractors on another, use a third vendor for storage, and my merchant tent taking up a lot that I could be using for something else.
By the way, that part about Surrender Skill...is that an official SOE statement?
Every day someone comes in here asking the same damn question.. It's been asked and answered again and again and again and again and again and again and again.. The answer is right there for all to see, and would take a minute tops to find.. As a matter of fact at the time I'm reading this thread, the thread entitled "Dropping Merchant for now, Do I get to keep my vendors???" is at the top of the page.. One might surmise the answer to this question could possibly be found there.. I honestly cannot fathom that so many people would come to the Merchant forum and ask for tips on how to exploit, or otherwise work around our proffession, and NOT expect anyone to get a lil irritated.. Especially when a third of the topics on any given page are the same damn thing!!!! I'm trying to be civil, and I do apologize if I came off otherwise, but if people would take just a second to scan the topics, the answer is there, and it's NOT hard to find.. Those of us who don't like seeing or proffession exploited don't need to have it rubbed in our noses constantly, as we already have enough frequenters who enjoy doing that as it is..
If you are interested, this is GarVa's response to the issue..

Actually itreally "IS" an issue. It topped the thread of existing issues that merchants would like to see fixed. And it is the #1 issue that Doc submitted to the devs as requests to the help the profession. Just because you are blind to that fact does not invalidate its importance.
Removing vendors that should never have been in the game in the first place may actually help invigorate the profession by actually making people spend points to sell things more efficiantly. The profession would look as legitimate as the rest of the professions, as people will stop looking at it as a second rate profession (or as you call it "a bucket of warm spit") worthy of being stolen from. Just because you don't respect us doesn't mean everyone else has to follow in your "singular" way of thinking.
Your "someone elses vendor skills in no way effect my game" sounds rather selfish to me.
/amen to that broher, preach on.
I just think it is unfair for someone who has no artisan skills to have a vendor, it's like me having revive and retaining only master medic status.
I think vendors should be linked with a level of a vendor skill mod.
For example if you have +20 vendor skill you can place on vendor, if you have 30 you get to place 2 and so on until you reach +100 at mangement 4 where u can place 6.

I mastered merchant and architect, roughly at the same time, doing the profession grind. Now, I'm curious as to whether or not I can give up all of my merchant skills, yet still be able to maintain my vendors properly, put things for sale up on myvendors, maintain having a merchant tent, keep the ad barking (even if I can't change it), etc.
Funniest part of my profession grinding - I opened my first holo and it told me to become a master chef. I told my holo to piss off.
And yet again, another exploiter of my profession is revealed.
Go home, loser. Your feble attempts at acting innocent in stealing skills from my profession without keeping skill points by asking "nicely"are not welcome here.
It is a well documented bug that SOE HAS CONFIRMED and are in the process of fixing. This bug has singlehandedly made Merchant the most useless profession in the game.
I say watch your step with putting up vendors that you will not have skill points to maintain. If you were intelligent you would instead use the Coke machine, or the bartender, as long as you have the Buisness branch.
