Thread: House maintence for other peoples houses?

I have seen the same thing. I have two chars, and one is almost a master merchant. Anything that the merchant pays maintnance on, get the efficiency discount. Any amount makes this happend. I am not sure if it goes away after x amount of time, or after someone else pays maint. I'll play with it more tonight unless someone has already done the research.

This is working as intended as far as I can tell. If a merchant with the proper skill in Effiency puts Any Amount in the maintenance for a sturcture that structure gets the discount until someone else who is not a merchant with the proper skill in Effiency puts money into it.
This is essentially so that merchants can get a discount on structures they manage but don't officially own (like rented lots for harvesters and factories and warehouses).
It is also probbably easier to implement than other methods.

One, well, a couple, of my german guildmates bailed several monts ago for the european server. They weren't sure if they were coming back, so they dumped a large pile of money into their house to make sure it was ok if they didn't like the new server.
Well, they liked the new server.
Maint pool is emptying on their house. They got a lot of nice stuff.I say, "Hey, what's 10k between friends. I'll add a couple more weeks, and drop them some e-mail."
Plunk in 10K in the slot, check the terminal.
-20% Merchant discount.
What gives?
I'm far too lazy to sit down and do the actual math, but I may be driven to it.
I wonder if I should be paying the maintence on all of my guilds structures? Any ideas?

Over the long haul, this can save quite a nice chunk of change.

A few months ago I got a tell from somebody I didnt know, asking me if I could come travel to his houseand pay his maintenance. My first reaction was why? and then he told me it would save him 20%,I told him he was wrong and that you only get the discount if the merchant owns the structure. Well after some back and forth he went to somebody else.
Well, I guess he was right, oh well. Even if I did know it would work at the time, I still wouldnt ofdonethat for some random strangerwho I've never spoke to before.

then you arent a real merchant your majesty!
i would have charged him 5-10% of the amount i was depositing....he would still be getting a 10-15% discount
