Thread: Integrate the Bazaar and Vendors at Advertising 4

Allow merchants at an appropriate level say Advertising 4 to have their merchandise from their vendors searchable and purchasable from any bazaar terminal. So my customers can go to a bazaar terminal and find my products and buy them. They would still need to travel to my vendor to pick it up but that would be well worth itto the customer. Integrating vendors and the bazaar system isn't really a new idea. It's been brought up before but making it a skill acquired by the merchant profession limits how many vendors would be included in this new system thereby limiting system load which I'm sure isa factor when rolling something like this out. it also add a considerable amount of value to being a merchant. Think of how widely available your products would be and how easy it would be to maintain your vendor if this feature was implemented.

Well, it's just a dream I guess...

This is actually how it worked in beta.

I've favored moving premium auctions to private vendors to do this for quite some time - would be fantastic advertising - far more valuable than on an overcroweded map. Everything need not be listed premium - just some nice representative samples of product to get folks into the shop.

It sounds like you are talking about the oposite of what I'm refering too, thought it may just be a symantics difference. I talking about iems that sit on my private vendor being listed on the global bazaar. If you are talking about listing items on the bazaar on private vendors I'm not sure I see the need or the value in that. But I'm not trying to put your idea down. I'm jsut trying to float my idea to people.

No I think we are talking about the same thing - but moving PREMIUM sales to a private vendor function - so that they show up on the global bazaar.

All items would be WAY to much overload, but if I could list one or two representative items on my vendor to show on the public bazaar with waypoints - that would be awesome advertising, well worth a small additional listing fee - but worthless as is on the bazaar.

i agree that the bazaar or some other kind of market place is vital

here is my current feeling about merchant in general right now...

i think we are thinking about things wrong....every thing is focused on getting the customer to the product..the new droids are the latest example...spam a buyer and get him to travel some distance, often thru heavy lag, to browse for items...it just seems like it would make more sense to get the product to the customer....they droids should have been MOBILE vending machines!

buying needs to be an easier experience for the buyer...people get frustrated with the map listings because they dont help them find what they are looking for...

NPC Merchants get stalls and tents in the cities but we player merchants cant

Wire3K,

I agree with you then, having premium sales initiated from the private vendors show up on the global bazaar is a great idea. Because I'm sure you're correct that the load from placing all items on the global bazaar would probably be prohibitive. Which is why I think nothing has been done at this point by the dev's.

Naufragus,

i agree in concept to what you mean by bringing the product to the customer. I mean geezzz, even we have that now with the internet...But I'm not sure that mobile vendors is technically feasible, it might be I'm not a programmer, but it just seems slightly complicated to make happen. But ideas like these are things the dev's should be considering, I just hope they are...but who knows the communication these days seems to be one way only...straight to them then into the trash...hehe j/k.

the load on the bazaar could be reduced!!!!!!!!!!

Resources --- resouces should not be sold in stacks of 50 units and take up 20 pages....each Type of resource should show up ONCE....the buyer simply buying the # of units he wants.....we could go from 20 pages to 1 or 2

I can envision a new catagory of merchant --- BROKER ---- they would be given a broker vendor that people would sale their resources to....the BROKERS can then list on the Galactic commodities market....with a little fleshing out we could have an actuall MARKET similar to EVE's...this would also allow prices to stablize

SERVICE AREA ---- Another way to reduce the load is to not allow every item to be listed GALAXY-wide.....maybe make the fee high to do that...less to just list on the planet and free for regional....instead of just CITY- PLANET-ALL

CATAGORIES -- The catagories are pathetic...items are still mislabled or not specifically labeled.... take some droid and tailor parts...they are listed as COMPONETS instead of droid component or clothing component...if you are lloking for widget X you have to look at ALL the listings and scan 10 pages.... same goes for resources...they are all limped togetehr instead of seperated by Copper, BONE, Wooly hide etc.....just fixing catagories would alleviate much of load from searchs

There are a great many things they could do to improve the existing vendor/bazaar system and you've already mentioned a few. heck just improving the categorizing and search capabilities would go along way to making the bazaar system better.
