That sucks man. I would try contacting the CSRs.. but they are likely to say you gave him admin rights and it was your own fault. Sucks to be a nice person sometimes

If you can prove the admin right were given under the pretense of a trade, I'm sure the CSRs will help you. If not, then I guess there's nothing they can do...

Wow. Sorry that happened to you. That's just awful. But your caution to be wary is a valid one. You said you are relatively new, but considered this guy an ingame friend, yes? Well, this sort of thing can and has happened even to "old" players. Being new and trusting or old and trusting... you just might get burned...

I have a friend who began his first char on Corbantis. He was in a guild there, had many friends, one very good friend in particular. After a while a bunch of them decided to begin new chars over on Intrepid (right after Intrepid got the first Jedi - talk about your flood of new chars). Some time goes by and he more or less quit playing his Corbantis char, even to the point he left his guild there. His friend from Corbantis had two accounts, and was letting my friend play an alt character on Intrepid from that account, thereby allowing my friend to have two Intrepid chars. The friend promised that if hedecided to quit playing SWG, that he'd let my friend take over that second account. (SOE rules aside, ya I know, I know, but this is how the tale goes...)

More time goes by. My friend levels up his "borrowed" char to mastercombat medic, has ALL hisbest and rare resources and loots stashedin that char's bank and houses (imagine everyloot from every quest, crystals, pearls, paintings, schematics...he had it).

Can you see where this is headed? Ah huh.

My friend logged in one day, very upset. Hehad tried to log in on the borrowed char, but it wouldn't accept his password. He logged into his main char, his own account and ran all over several planets, checking out the locations of all his properties that had been owned by his borrowed alt char. Gone. Everything was gone. Houses, factories, harvesters. And everything that had been in them. He didn't know if it had all been deleted, or taken.

He went to Corbantis. His old friend's char had been deleted. Everything that friend had owned over there, was gone too. My friend contacted a CSR. Depsite the "breaking of the rules" in regards to taking over someone else's account, the CSR did bend enough to tell my friend, that the borrowed Intrepid char had been deleted. But not until after "it" had emptied the bank of items and credits, houses, factories, harvesters, and all items had been traded to another char. After everything had been traded, the borrowed char then picked up all the properties and also traded those to the un-named char. Then the borrowed char was deleted. After it had been stripped clean of everything it had. Millions and millions of credit's worth of items, resources and credits.

Nothing could be done about it. The borrowed Intrepid character legally belonged to the original owner, therefore, everything on it... Gone. Lesson learned.

My friend never heard from his so-called Corbantis friend again. He has no idea why that was done to him. No warning. There had been no disputes of any kind. He learned his lesson about trusting anyone. He nearly quit the game over it. He still wants to know why it was done.

Friend, brother, spouse, guild mate... beware who you give admin to. And don't be shocked if your most trusted companion steals everything, including your character.

Yeah i know how you feel, iv also learned this lesson the hard way through me being a bit stupid one day.

Not as bad as you as it was only a couple harvs this guy picked off my vendor for 1c.

1c!! i hear you ask? i found it quicker to place an item for 1c than 999999999c as i was i a rush to sort out the items rather than just dropping them etc. Thought id be ok as it was only going to take me 5 mins to do but this guy walks in and notices loads of items fo 1c and he states that to me. I said "yeah im just sorting them out please dont buy anything". He said ok and just before i added him to my house banned list i get 2 mails saying he'd bought items.

Funny thing was, as he slid out the house after i had banned him he say's "that wasn't very nice". I replyed with "what did you expect after i asked you not to buy anything" He then walks off and shouted "these harvs are crap anyway"

The guy only bought the 2 most inexpensive items on the vendor where there was items on it worth a whole lot more!! lol Idoit!

Oh and yes, i did know this guy in-game but was not 'friends'. I had met and spoken to him a few times before and seemed ok.

'Seemed' being the the all important word here.

You can never really trust anyone.

I hate to hear stories like this. Definitly contact CSR. Sure you opened yourself up by placing another player on admin. However, SOE are very good about cracking down on people who comit fraud. You might be able to get some intervention.

If you had a vendor in the vicinity, you should have had him offer the items/resources to it, then sell them and the schematics back through the vendor afterwards... No Admin Access required on his part, plus no adverse effects of faction/TEF...

I have a shop with 4 different people that have vendors, and each of them were told to meet me to set up their vendors so I could put them on admin and when they put the vendor down I took them off, I also have a lot of nice items in my shop for people to see and enjoy as I do, I dont let anyone on admin to many of my houses and factorys, if it's something difficult to replace or sometimes irreplaceable, protect it from everyone in all ways possible, but as the previous person posted, have them offer up the resources and you can put the schematic up there as well for them to buy, no admin rights necessary.

I don't give admin rights anymore mostly because of bugs, and CSRs not helping as soon as someone else is on admin. I'm pretty paranoid too though and there are only maybe 4 people I would trust enough to put them on admin, and 1 to give my account info if there was an emergency of some sort.

My greetings,

My apologies for the off-topic post. Knowing full well that many of you do not play on Bria, I'd like to share this with the professions of SWG.

What I'm about to tell you was stupid, was idiotic, was something that many of you will think to yourself, "Good lord, man, you should have known better." And you'd be right. Why am I sharing this with you? Because I want to remind everyone of the wide assortment of real life personalities that exist in SWG. That, while a game, SWG has real people that populate the servers. Most of those people are quite friendly, courteous individuals. Please take what you will from this story. I know I certainly learned a lesson.

Someone I considered an in-gamefriend came to me asking for some schematics to help him master Armorsmith. My alt has the necessary tailor skills to craft the cloths he needed and, being a friend, I agreed to make the schematics.

While waiting, I chatted with a guildmate. It wasn't long before he showed up at the shuttleport and we attempted a trade, realizing at this time he was an overt imperial and I was a neutral. Not a problem, we'll go to my house, I'll give him admin access, he can drop the necessary resources, I'll craft the schems, log my imperial character and trade the schems throughhim.

Why did I think this was the best method? The player I considered a friend plays on dialup. Rather than trading through the imperial character twice, it seemed more expedient to allow him admin access to drop the resources and trade through the imperial character only once.

Upon arriving at my house, he began to look around. I have a fairly nice collection of paintings on the wall, a few moderately rare items on display including a force crystal and an ATST suit. I was rather proud of my little collection. It wasn't anything to rival some of the museums on Bria, but I thought it was rather nice. As a rather new player, naturally I assumed he was checking the place out. Little did I know, that's exactly what was happening.

The guildmate I was speaking with earlier dropped by needing a Swoop and, him having all the resources on hand, I was more than happy to help him out. I prefer to keep to a line of sorts, wanting to finish up with my friend's schematics before crafting the Swoop. After a few minutes of him running around, me trying to get him to drop the resources, him asking what resources, me looking it up in the crafting tool, he said he had to log. Well, okay then. I'll do it when he get's back.

In the basement of my Tatooine house, I keep my crafting stations. I and my guildie run downstairs and I whip uphis Swoop (59% durability, bah) run upstairs and, for the first time realize that just about everything of any rarity in my house was gone.

Did I send him a tell? Absolutely. In fact, I admit I used words the forums regularly edit out. I even got a response. Except for the curse, verbatum:

- "ya i kinda actd like a--hole"

- "well g'luck"

- "/tiphat"

I'm not going to ask people to shun thaed stormlight. I'm not going to ask people to grief him. In fact, I want nothing more from this post than to remind everyone that real people inhabit our fictional world, that every personality imaginable exists within it's electronic borders. My thanks to you for reading this lengthy post. Good luck and May the Force be with you.

I agree here. In an old guild I used to run we had a house dedicated as a storage unit for the guild. This was to be used when one ran out of room, temp storage for moves ect. Well one day a member CLEANED it out! and then quit the guild. So we contacted CSR and even though the fact was this person had admin rights, there was an understanding that your personal items there belonged to an individual and not ment as a "free to guild" thing. So CSR tracked the items, got em back...dont know what happened to the player though. However, I have never seen him since.
