I'm a career Master Merchant, I love the profession, and hope the devs make some positive changes for the profession soon. This is a conversation I had in guildchat yesterday...
st: does anyone know how to set up a vendor without artisan?
me: poached vendors are an exploit and will be fixed by the devs.
st: but how do I set one up?
me: I'm not telling you how to exploit.
st: but then how am I supposed to sell anything?
me: bazaar, get some artisan skills, make friends with a merchant, spam in coronet....
me: what are you selling?
no answer, probably because they went off to find a more cooperative advisor....
Same smacktard a few days later, after I tell another guildee how happy I am that the devs are at least thinking about fixing vendors....
st: when are they fixing vendors? I don't want to lose the stuff on mine.
me: tomorrow
st: really?
no answer
I couldn't help it. I'm not mean to someone that really doesn't know it's an exploit, not everyone reads the forums. But come on, if you do know, you get no sympathy from me. The worst part is, I've had more than a handful of my own guildees ask about this. Is anyone else noticing this?

As a guild leader, I do not have the luxury to be as direct as Mighty, everyone else I give no quarter. If I do find guildees that are purpetuating an expoit, I politely ask them to stop the practice, otherwise they will be sanctioned by the guild.
My guild does not tolerate any exploit in the game for any reason.

What is the exploit? Im a Master Merchant so I certainly don't need to use it, nor would anyway. I'm just really curious lol

Be more realistic if you said "Tuesday" (seeing as that seems to be "minipublish" day)

Why would you be such a horrible guild mate? Then be happy about it?

It's commonly refered to as Vendor Poaching.
You get Business 3 to get a vendor and then drop your artisan skills.
You get to keep the vendor.
It also works if you go all the way up the Merchant tree.
When you drop the skill, you don't lose any changes (barking, registration, clothing) you've made to the vendors but you do lose the ability to change these.
So if you get Master Merchant and place 6 Protocol Droid Vendors then drop all of your skills, you'll still keep all of your vendors witout restriction
The devs have said that it is NOT an exploit but it is not something that is intended.
They will be fixing it but haven't said how or when.
My theory is that the more people that do it to abuse the system, the faster they will put a stop to it.

i dont think its that horrible to not tell someone how to do something that they feel is wrong. i mean sure they are in a guild together. but that doesnt mean that they HAVE to tell them how to do it. there is a certain loyalty to a guild, but that in no way binds you to do something, or tell others how to do something, that you feel is not right just because they are in your guild.
