I post this here as it would be an infringement on the merchants current abilities, but as a master merchants my self I think this could be beneficial to us in the long run.
Basally every player would get to place ONE delivery box in a house. That delivery box would work like the offer part of a vendor.
Now if a person ordered a product from a crafter, then the crafter could go to the delivery box and offer the product to it for the agreed upon price.
This should be the primary way for non-merchant crafters to sell thair goods. If you do not have the stills to run a shop, then you have to make delivers of your product or trade face to face.

Short term it would mean that crafters would be less depended on merchants, provided they wanted to make personal deliveries. However, in the long term I am sure most crafters would get bored of that, and would either get the merchant skills or seek out a merchant to do business with.

Now if we ever get the ability to freight goods, and offer them up for sale somewhere other then where we are. Then this system would give us an even gaiter benefit, as it could allow us to ship any order directly to the home of the buyer. That would be a service most players would pay big credits for.

I don't think that really competes with merchant business all that much. The other idea I've seen was a "Post Office" for player cities that would include a drop box that could be bought and used simularly for player to player deliveries of custom ordered merchandise.

I suspect there are some serious technical issues with "freight" shipping in the game which is why we haven't seen anything like that idea. The delivery system idea has merit but you would have to work out a way to expire those boxes so that coneten didn't sit out on the server forever.

The vendor system already have that build in, time limited and counting against the bazaar limit.
The most imported then would be that a merchant would not be NECESSARY for a crafter to sell his wares, but would be a benefit.
As this is basally giving Everyone the "offers" part of the vendor, it will be diverting a benefit the profession at large.

If you keep the delivery to one at a time then you don't have an issue with it really competing with the offers screen. ( Yes you could deliver a pack with multiple Items I guess but there would have to be a limit to the amount of items that could be put in a delivery box and that box would have to be emptied fairly quickly and you shouldn't be able to put your OWN stuff in a your delivery box (people will just use it as storage)

Just make them count against the bazaar limit of the person doing the offers...
