I deleted millions of credits of merchandise this way Was moving my stuff to another vendor and saw that stockrooms where combined and believed i could remove the first then just put up for sale on the other.

Please at least warn people first. you do it for harvesters why not vendors?

ummmm

whenever i delete a vendor it asks me if i'm sure I want to delete this vendor and any items that may be on it..

and I have to click on Yes or No before continueing

so I think that would be a check so your sure.

works for me.

sorry i should explain it a little better. My town is getting rid of our mall in favor of tents. So i was moving my goods to anothervendor(just got novice merchant to have 2 vendors so i could do this). when i was placing goods into my new vendor i noticed the goods in my stockroom from my old one were showing up on it(i now know i was looking at regional). So i incorrectly came to believe that the stockrooms were linked so i could access it from both vendors. and i deleted my old vendor. it did ask me to verify the action, but doesnt say anything about goods left on the vendor.

I know better now just wish i wouldnt have payed such i high price

maybe you should have come to the boards and asked if you would lose the items if you did that. Just a thought.

Maybe people should have just a tad of compassion and not one-star this poor chap just cause he made a mistake and is trying to clarify code workings for himself. It's not like he came here ranting and raving.

I agree that the notification is weak considering situations like houses which cannot be deleted now with items in them and require you to physically confirm a deletion not just an action that results in a deletion of items. Vendors should be more picky about being deleted when they have merchandise in them.

While it is true that it does warn you. It is also true that this system can be confusing and making a mistake can lean to a tough time for you for a while as you try to rebuild your business. I certainly think most merchant could support a more robust safety system for deleting a vendor. To remove a harvester you have to stop it, empty the hopper, then go through two destroy dialogs and type in a code.. shouldn't vendors with potentially hundreds of items be as secured?

It gives you the same warning whether there is still inventory in the vendor or not.

And I totally agree. The harvesters do have a nice set of warnings and fail safes to avoid destroying the deed. Harvesters got more attention because more people can use them. I feel that vendors should have the same treatment.

And there is any other glitch you got hit with. The radio buttons on the vendor control will automatically switch to "vendors in area" rather than the "individual" vendor you were accessing. This happens every time you shift to the stockroom.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

The exact same thing happened to me when I started merchant, and I lost all my stock as well. It is extremely confusing at the start (much more than harvesters and they put in a ridiculous process for them) and i agree that we need more warnings.

it always says that, even if it's empty.

It's true that it always says the warning if the vendor is empty or still has items. But there is a warning, a reminder to check your stockroom. I'm sorry about your loss, but merchants deal with so many vendor issues that we just have to learn to double check everything to avoid losing stock.

It sounds like you assumed that since the you could see the items in the stockrooms of your other vendors that they went into some kind of communal stockroom and wouldn't be destroyed if you removed the vendor. But the warning message specifically says that any items remaining on the vendor will be lost, and if you still had doubts you could have asked in here before deleting the vendor. I really really don't mean this to sound harsh, but I just don't understand why anyone would risk that much stock based on an assumption about how the vendor system works.

I agree that the warning should be better, and maybe it should be a little harder to delete a vendor with items on it. But I don't want the ability to delete vendors with items removed completely, it's kind of nice to be able to get rid of extra items quickly when moving a vendor instead of having to retrieve and delete them all individually.

And I also don't think that extra warnings about this kind of avoidable mistake should get developer attention ahead of actual bugfixes or new merchant systems.
