The merchant guide which is sticky on this forum explains how to get Merchant XP. There is no quick way to grind it. You can increase the speed of the XP by having a bunch of people enter houses you own which have admission fees on them every 10 minutes to give you xp. That will still take a few weeks. The "normal" Master time is 22 and a bit days. Enjoy. Sorry I'm a master of a "sad" profession.

I feel your pain, Diversetek... My first holo was Weaponsmith (which I ground quite nicely, thanks to the munitions tree) followed by Merchant. The best advice I've found is to get Management IV ASAP, and a large number of friends who don't mind clicking your six vendors every ten minutes or so.

Good luck... I've almost made it, I know you can!

Come on diversetek83, you said you just finished up weaponsmith. The easy way would be to have stuff to sell...
You can easily make C12 gradates or mines, and sell them 5 cpu. That should bring plenty of customers and make you a bundle of cash at the same time.
Se you merchant grind as a chance to use you last weaponsmith grind to make up the credit you need to for the rest of your Jedi quest.

With a factory you can make 8 crates of c12 grantees or DX mines a day... So with 3 factorys a 2 lot house, 1 fusion generator and 1 miniral harvesters (Steel and ammoures gemstone), 1 chem (polymer), and 1 gas (reactive gas). You should have more then enough to make 24 crates of mines a day (with resources and power left over).

I was in the same boat BUT I decided not to try any lame house access crap or getting friends to pointlessly click on my vendors. Instead I got my pa friends to give me stuff to stock on my vendors (I pass any sales cash back to them of course), and start advertising the vendors everywhere I go - including the boards.

It will almost certainly take me 3 weeks regardless but I will enjoy doing it. In the meantine, if you can afford the skill points you can be grinding non-holo professions in anticipation of hitting your silent profession ahead of time.

there is a way to grind it but it required 10 small naboo style 2 houses and an army of friends/guildmates. Set all 10 houses and entrence fee them. For one persont o go into them all youd get 500 xp. So if you get an army of friends every 15 min you can grind it out fast. Just have fun putting that army together.

My advice to you...don't talk smack about a profession ON THIER OWN BOARDS!!! We in this profession understand the weaknesses of the profession. We dont need Holohunters to tell same thing over and over again.

I got weaponsmith for my first holo (I'm still on it) and decided to do Merchant to help out some guild mates who didn't have spare points to do it themselves. I actualy find it an enjoyable proffesion. I stock their vendors and then when sales are made, I notify the appropriate person and they come collect there cast. In return I get 20 - 50% of all sales and thus we all make money. I like being a center of comerce and hope I can soon expand. I'd really like to get an armorsmith under my wing, and then I would have all the major items going through me to the customer.

I also know from experience that if he's hologrinding weaponsmith, he's not making anything worth selling. My best advice for getting through Merchant fast is to quit trying to get through it fast. Go up the management tree first and set an access fee to your house, but work on something else. It will come in due time and patients is required.

I took20days to get thru merchant.

Does that count as grinding?

If you want to follow the way I went, I posted "tips for grinding merchant" on 1/10, 3 days after I hit Bus 3.

But.. I also made alot of cash, at least 4 mil in that time.
