I'm planning to become Master Merchant (novice now) and wanted to know if I could give someone a venodor so they could sell things on it.

Is that possible?

Can I lease it too them so they can control it but I get a cut of the sales or a monthly fee to let them use it?

The answer would be "no", to both your questions.

Whats the point of mastering Merchant then? With so many points sunk intogetting these vendors and abilities you could master 1 other profession and wouldn't be using half the vendors available to you.

Shouldn't Merchants be the ones to create facilities for crafters to sell their merchandise? i.e. vendors with advertising in nice intricate shops.

How are these malls I setup if I can't let somone else sell their goods on my vendor?

ill probably get flamed by my fellow merchants, but i still think that my idea for the mall would be ideal for merchant.

There are SO many ideas out there for merchant ... how to improve the existing system, create new perks ect.

Some ideas I would like to see is an increase in item cound for higher level merchants. yes, i know we have 6k right now, but it used to be that anyone with a vendor got that for each vendor, and now as masters we are capped on that for all vendors. It just doesnt seem fair. I would really like to keep my vendors well stocked, and id be more inclined to actually use merchant skill for buy-resell purposes if i had more item spaces available. As it is, im barely able to keep my own items on my vendors much less merchant myself out to other ppl. ... yeah, consignment or the ability to lease out vendors in a mall environment would be very very helpful ... as well, i really think the item count should be increased drastically in management, efficiency, and master to where a master merchant has a 6k limit per vendor rather than item total.

I had always assumed Merchant would have the ability to do something like this.

The Merchant would place the vendor andspecify another player as the controller.

The controller would then be able to place their items on the vendor to sell.

The merchant and controller would have somewhat of a contract for using the vendor... ie merchant gets 10% of sales or maybe 30 credits per hour.

The controller wouldn't be able to make any changes to the vendor except for merchandise.

The merchant couldn't touch the merchandise and if they wanted to change/removethe vendor an email would get sent to the controller for approval/notification.

Looks likesomething similar is anadded feature requested in one of the sticky threads.

I couldn't imagine being a master merchant and having to buy and sell all that merchandise.Thats somerisky business.

I don't see how this would kill the master merchant if they were able to take a 25% cut of everything sold from their vendor and a fee for posting an item. I would be for it as long as the merchant still had admin on the vendor.

One of the obvious drawbacks of renting out a vendor would be that not many crafters are willing to pay know where near a 25% cut of thair sales... there have been debates on that in the past, and well lets just say the idea did not sit well with the crafters, and the word greedy was used a lot.

Just do a search on this forum and you will find more then you ever wand to read on the topic.

Vendor sharing is something I've really wanted to have for a long time. If it was very customizable, I think that it wouldn't be a problem with many people.

What I do as a Master Merchant is this.

1) I Have someone that has a Hot item that sells rapidly or a Solid Wholesaler. I will buy all of it and put it up for sale at a 5% to 40% Mark-up. Sometimes Wholesalers will get mad at the Huge Mark-up. But, You have to remember the Merchant is doing ALL the Work and Paying there vendors for keeping it there for you. This tends to Arguements Between Wholesaler and merchant. My Recommendation is make a Trade-Agreement with the Wholesaler. That you will Buy a Certain amount of his Product at a Certain Price. Reguardless, How much the merchant will make off it. Once that Set amount is reached renegotiated a new contract. Some Merchants will take it and some won't. If they dont or you dont like what they are making off your product look for another merchant to sell for you.. There are TONS out there.. Many Crafters are Merchants. Just takes time to find the right one.

2) Something that does not sell or a New client. I take the item and put it up for sale. Once the item is for sale I will transfer 10% to 25% back to the Creater of the item. With this, You have to go thru each sale and forward a copy to the Creater showing him that certain items are selling better then others. So, That he can Make More items accordingly.

With me this has been working out pretty well. Your can try it if you wish..
