Thread: is merchant a good prof?
I wouldn't say worse than any other profession. So we have a few things broken, have you ever tried to be Bio Engineer though?? Good majority of their creatures don't work, and **edit** near all of their tissues are broken. Only thing really usefull they can do is make stim and vitality packs.
I currently enjoy being a merchant, as I am also an entertainer. I run our PA's branch on another planet, and pretty much spend most of my time there. I entertain anybody that comes into the shop, and try to keep a really good atmosphere that people enjoy coming back to.
Basically, if you enjoy being in the business of, well, business, then merchant is quite fun. Pair it along though with something else you enjoy and it will be much better.
To be fair being a merchant is fun. But the profession is the lest developed of any of the professions. Forget bugs for a moment. The merchant class is just not developed. There are entire skill trees that don't do anything because of changes in the game since they were designed. Even if all the existing bugs are fixed (and from what I hear several of them are on TC arleady) you still have at least one full skill tree that isn't useful and two others that should be combined into one and Merchants given some other advantanges.
Right now as someone else said in another message there is very little in the merchant tree that gives us an advantage over an Artisan (and I am a Master Artisan) with a vendor. Advertising is about the only one. The rest of it is just fluff most of the time.
