Thread: Vendor fees- can someone please answer my question?
I'm on vacation in Ohio and noticed something in my home board about vendor's fees going up. I had read Holo saying that they were not going to impliment their original plan (a percentage of the total value on the vendor per hour) and were instead going to slap a sales tax down.
What's the deal? I have over 500k of merch on my vendor and am really freaking out. Do I need to have my friend log onto my account and pull everything on my vendor? I put 50k into the vendor maintence before I left but if that won't last very long if they changed it to the percentage plan.
I have an NPC vendor, if that makes a difference.
I really appreciate someone answering my question.
Do a little searching. They aren't going to do the Total For Sale / 1000 every 45 minutes thing anymore. It's going to be closer to:
200 credits / hour + 5% sales tax
down to maybe 100 credits / hour with advanced merchant skills.

Where did the 200 credit thing come from? It seems everyone is using that. Is this actually from Holo or a guess? If that is based in the 45 minute model, that would be 6,400 credits per day.Maintenance on a PA hall is only 2400 per day.
Do a little searching. It's based on Holo's post ripped right from his mouth... or fingers in this case...
I highly recommend watching the "Dev Tracker" thread. You'll find some good reads. I've done the searching for you... check out this post:

Lets be clear that the post Holo made doesn't say anything about per hour rates. It says a 200 flat charge going down to 100. Doesn't mention a time at all. 200 per hour seems a bit high considering other rates so I would be surprised if it were really that hight.
I am forced to agree, no where in Holo's post does he mention a time. People have been saying it will be per hour, but let me just do a little math, just so we can all pray that it is not.
200cr/hour x 24 = 4800cr/day
400cr/day x 7 = 33600cr/week
33600cr/week x 6 merchants = 201600cr/week
So for 6 merchants, you are looking at paying over 200,000cr a week just to maintain those merchants. Some may say, ohh well, you can just run one merchant. That is fine and good, however, that is not good business practice, or the type of business that tends to bring in a lot of customers. I run our PA's lok branch, which currently only has 5 vendors, soon to be going up. I do this so I can seperate everything into its desired merchant, such as Food and Drug or Armory. This helps people immensly when I start advertising them on the global map, they can say, "hey wow, theres a pharmacy over at that shop" or something of that sort, and have a basic idea of what they are going to find. People who tend to stack as many items of every sort on one vendor tend to just annoy people. People enjoy conveniance, plain and simple. It also adds to the atmosphere of the shop itself, to have a variety of vendors in a well decorated shop that doubles as a cantina for the wounded, it attracts a crowd.
That 201,600cr/week would simply just kill shops, I don't make that kind of money, since I am not the actual crafter making the merchandise. It is our PA's artisans and crafters that make this stuff, I simply sell it and take a % out of the sale price to help maintain the vendors and the shop. So, the basic point I am trying to make, is stop spreading this rumor of 200cr/day, since there is no absolute proof that it is in fact the truth. All we can do is keep an open mind, and hope the Dev's make the correct choice when the time comes.
That rate is probably 200 per day - (200 / day). Which makes sense with the fees of harvesters and other items in the game.
So you could have 3 venders at 600 per day plus sales tax.
Das.
