I think they should add to a tier ( like the effiency tier ) allowance of how many items you can place on vendor.

That way people who are using vendors as storage will be wasteing points in the merchant tree , where as the higher you get on the tiers, the more items you can place.

Example.. : Buddy the CH places a vendor in his house, and puts all items at 100,000 $. Nobody buys the stuff and hes happy because he just wants to use it as a storage compartment. Now.. we take away his ability to place unlimited storage.. and make it so at tier 0, you only get 10 items to place. ( merchants dont worry.. 25 on world, 10 in each vendor minimum 35 to sell). Now , based on that.. does buddy really wanna waste 6 xp points on only 10 storage , probably not. Therefore he finds a new way for storage.

Now what about the merchant.. only 10 items isnt alot at first.. that's why you build to tier 1, where you'd get 50, then each aditional tier you get an additional 50.. so at the end , if you are a master merchant, you can place like 250 items on each of your 4 or 5 vendors. ( thats more then enough room for sales )

I know it would be hard at first.. but merchants can last a week without a large inventory, gain the needed xp.. and when they hit only tier 2.. they can place 100 items.. therefore, it takes 1 week to be considered a decent merchant.

I think this would be a great way for them to solve the players using vendors as storage.. and with that ... they can actually base the price of a vendor on per item base instead of overall value..

tier 0 = 10 items at 700 a day. ( 70 credits per item / per day )

tier 1 = 50 items at 1300 a day ( 26 credits per item / per day )

tier 2 = 100 items at 1800 a day ( 18 credits per item / per day )

tier 3 = 150 items at 2200 a day ( 15 credits per item / per day )

tier 4 = 200 items at 2500 a day ( 13 credits per item / per day )

master = 250 items at 2700 a day ( 11 credits per item / per day )

Makingthe price of a full vendor not too high.. and if they still want money.. they can implement a tax system that charges a5% fee or something upon sale. I think this is really fair.

This way its worth players to climb the tier tree.. the cost isnt too high.. and it stops the players from using vendors as storage.. becuase of the fact i dont know too many players that are willing to waste 15 xp points just for storage. think about it....

I dont really understand why SOE is saying that the game has too much money floating around , and they wanna sink some of it ( cough.. on merchants.. cough.. Easy way is dont make missions pay out 20k every 15 mins.. A mission should take skill and time to finish.. like 10 mins for every thousand earned That way a mission for 20k would take close to 2 hours to complete.

What do you guys think?

It has nothing to do with a money sink!

It is a database issue...

They designed it this way...be kind ...general discription

Server(s) - Best money can buy

Database - ONE for all servers

It is that simple...take a fast car and ask it to pull the world and it can not do it....

They need to Wipe all the servers and say ...sorry...start all over and do it right

Take 6 months - fix the game - yes they can have a do over....

Otherwise you will get more and more problems...i.e. people disconnecting...

I will wait for player towns - If they hose that up...I will leave and take a new look when the space expansion comes out,,,

Small rant - Nerf me all over the place - Great who in beta said this game was not ready?

/raises hand

Power gamers can burn thru content faster than a lightsaber...the games been out 3 months,,,,where is the content...?

Broken missions

un-used battle grounds

Useless loot - at least let the junk dealer buy the crap from me

Useless missions - Dont get my point think quests from EQ

My feelings on missions - pick two that are close to each other - follow arrow - shoot same things over and over - go back to town - do over

How missions should be:

1. get mission

2. Kill something

3. Take item to NPC

4. Get next leg of mission

5. Kill something

6. Get reward - Random - cash - power up - training

/rant off

Sorry about that...just spent my second night not playing SWG...little upset about the fun factor

Its all about the database and balancing the game....

I for one dont understand how you can nerf a class - then let all the others who may or may not have used the exploit to stay where they are in the game - then say it is balanced

Oh I like your ideas on reducing storage ....but it was never about money...just the database...Insurance was about money sink but they hosed that too...

I don't have a problem with the gradual increase of items allowed in vendors. This would go a long way towards creating more need for the Merchant class as well since a crafter with their one Business III vendor wouldn't have unlimited selling ability from it. Getting the help of a merchant would greatly increase their ability to sell.

I agree that a per item charge (no matter what it is) will unduly punish the sellers of low priced items...but then that is an arguement against trying to run your own vendors as a craftsman of small items instead of selling them through a merchant who could sell many items and absorb the cost of the daily mainenance our of their profit.

I like the idea of max items on a vendor being increased if you have the efficiency skills, but I really don't like the idea to charge a set amount of money per item. This REALLY hurts the few chefs there are. I know that there aren't many, but we sell many items, usually all at a relatively low amount of credits. On the flip side, this makes Architects the perfect profession for stocking vendors. Selling deeds to houses on the vendor would be perfect if you were only charged a set amount of credits per item. What does 70 credits per hour matter when you can make 20k + in one sale? I know the prices for vendors is already being discussed on another thread, but like I said there and many others did as well, I think the best thing would be a lowset price on the vendor not taking into account the amount of items or whatnotand then a tax wheneveran item is sold based on the price of that item.
