Thread: Question about offering items in remote locations: accepting and putting up for sale
Ok, bear with me, I've never had more than one shop before... this may be a total noobler question.
I want to open a 2nd shop in which I will sell my tailored goods, and my fiance's armor. My main shop is on Talus and I want to open a second shop on Dantoine (armor and tailoring). My main character is a tailor/image designer and my fiance and I share a second character who is a armorsmith/merchant (share because he does the armoring and I do all the merchanting.)
Now, when I do a tailoring restock, usually that's around 70-100 items at a time (no really, I'm busy! That's every day or every other day, not once a week! Eek) Plus usually armor needs to be restocked, so that's about 9-16 crates that need to be carried. So I can't just send the merchanting character out to Dantoine with a full stock (let's not forget possiblity of dying en route and ruining the merchandise). I have to bring the tailor to make the items on the spot, and stick em up on the vendor.
I want to make sure I have this premise correct:
- tailor goes to dantoine, crafts items
- tailor offers items to dantoine vendor
- merchant purchases items using the talus vendor to accept offer (this can be done, I believe??)
- merchant puts the newly accepted items up for sale from the stockroom
- items listed from this transaction will appear for sale on the dantoine vendor (???)
If this is true, excellent, because the last thing I want to do is drag 2 characters around the countryside (on 2 vehicles, oy! - why no passengers?). Plus air fare from talus to dantoine is not cheap, so if I can get away with one of them going, that's what I'm gonna do.
Please let me know if this above scenario is a correct understanding of the merchanting system for multiple shops.
Hi n'Jessi!
Yes, you are correct in all respects. The only other thing you need to be aware of is that the ONLY thing the merchant can do remotely is buy offers, and post the item for sale as is - you can't manipulate the itmes in any other way.For instance, if you, as n'Jessi, offered items on the Dantooine vendor as crates, then the merchant can only offer crates for sale on that vendor - he can't remove items from the crate remotely. This works the same way with resources - ifI'm offered 100K of a resource on a remote vendor, all I can do remotely is offer that 100K for sale. If I needed to split it up, I'd have to make a trip.
