Thread: Wish list: remote vendor loading
I've been reading these boards fora while, but forgive me if I missed a post somewhere in there, and if my question/suggestion has already been mentioned.
I know that now we can relist items that fall from stockroom to the original vendors. But, what if, at master merchant, you could use the vendor in your current location to load up a remote vendor on a distant planet with NEW ITEMS (not stockroom items). This would be a very useful skill, and just that a *skill* that would be lost if master merchant were dropped.
Has this been mentioned before? Vetoed by Lucas?
The fact is that 6 vendors are really only useful if you're selling multiple types of goods or have multiple shops. Multiple shops would be much easier to manage if you had remote loading. I think this would give career merchants a distinct advantage over dabblers, and encourage craftspeople to sell to merchants, knowing that the items will be sold in shops all over the galaxy.
I'd like to see this added myself...
Another idea would be for all Merchants to get the ability, but for a fee (Devs love money sink ideas)...
This is so often asked about and never commented on by the devs. I suspect there may be some technical issue with moving items from one vendor to another like that. It has to be something that isn't easy to do. I've heard no real justification for it on a game mechanic level.
Would it be possible for customers to shop a remote location, as in the bazaar? For example, suppose I have 2 vendors, one on Naboo which is empty, and one on corellia which is full. Could customers, as with the bazaar, use my Naboo vendor to browse my Corellia inventory, buy items, and then just travel to Corellia for pickup? I can see this even being an advantage, because people are reluctant to go off-planet in the hopes that a specific item might be there.
On the other hand, there is a potential for griefing (i.e. someone makes purchase at Naboo shop, is banned from Corellia shop while en route.)
It gets difficult to find stuff to if you add too many items to the mix. The Bazaar is impossible to find anything beyond the region level for any popular item.
I do remember that player missions were talked about alot. I haven't heard any comment about them lately. I think they remain a "we'd love to do it" but "we can't figure out the technology" idea. I dunno. The post office idea that is floating around here is a good one that could be the start of some kind of player delivery/mission system. We might have a shot of getting it in.. after the space expansion ![]()

My only problem with a post office is the possibillity of it horning in on any content smugglers might hope to recieve. I think the Player Missions are closer than you think. It's not a tech matter, just a bit of a puzzle to do it in a way that's not griefey.
It is the "not griefey" part that is the technical hurddle.
So make the delivery terminals "Smuggler Terminals"
The post office package box though solves a number of situations where players need to transfer stuff but aren't both online at the same time. Something that vendors don't do a very good job of satisfying.
Well I wants it, yes... it's precioussss...
Err I mean... that would be really useful to have, and make having master merchant truly special andinteractive- when the exploits which allow you to do merchanty stuff with no merchanty skills are disposed of first, of course. Ack, priorities.
This is for the same reason that you can't have 'shipping' of bazaar items from one regional server to another, that you can't e-mail items to other characters, and that you can't have a passenger in your landspeeder.
I'm not sure exactly what the technical issue is, but it's very deep down in the code that items can only cross server boundaries while in the possession of a player character. I can't imagine that we'll ever be able to send items elsewhere by any means (including droids).

Yes. I suspect you are right. Which is why I wish they could create a way for us to allow others to deliver to us in a way that woul be safe and efficient. So far no luck with that.
