Thread: vendor unregistering from planetary map daily
I have one vendor I placed before the vehicle patch that stays registered on the planetary map.
I created a second vendor after the patch that is unregistering from the planetary map every day.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Vendors seem to unregister themselves because the vendor itself has despawned (when no one is in visual range) if the vendor is spawned then the map registration returns
This is a bit crap because obviously you need someone in your shop to spawn your vendor but if its not on the map then its less likely that someone will enter your shop to spawn your vendor.....
Yeah that does sort of invalidate the whole paying a fee for being on the global map when someone has to be in your shop to BE on the global map. Sigh. First it hits the xp and they fix it. Now it's hitting this. Arrgh.

It affected both at the same time. They fixed the Xp by making the vendor keep track of how much it still owes you so when it loads it catches up. The global map isn't as easy to fix. They have obviously tied the "put yourself back on the map" code to the vendor's initialization code...this means it doesn't work until that code is called when the vendor is reloaded. *sigh*

What confuses me is why does it have to be tied to the existance of the vendor? Shouldn't it just be a data file like a waypoint that constantly exists on the map? Couldn't they just make it so that to register and unregister is separate from the vendor's existance (vendor goes down, you STILL pay for being on the map until you unregister)? I know, here I am, armchairanalyzing when I know exactly jack squat about coding.
I'm not sure I just know that is the way it is tied in right now. Probably for the sake of server performance.

Hmm. Does this apply to vendors in ALL buildings (say, a Civic Building like a CIty Hall or Cantina), or just player-houses?
All structures behave the same way which you can see if you log into the game in one of them the items take a while to load...sometimes you have to leave the building and come back for them to load.
In a busy building you dont' have as much of a problem however because once the vendor is loaded the first time for the day the Advertising stays in effect until the server reboot the next morning.
At least you don't have to click on the menu to get it to work now .. I guess.. *sigh*
