My in-game friends have told me that this upcoming patch will include the "fix" for being able to have vendors when you have dropped the skills. I've spent the last 2 hours scouring this forum and the test center forum trying to find where this is said and can't find it. I know this is a hotly debated topic (hey I said I read forums for last two hours) and I don't want to start a thread on that...I just would appreciate a link to where its said this will be in next patch.

Thanks for your help.

If there were any significant changes for vendors in this publish you would already know it because we would be talking about them. (as we did within minutes of them nerfing backpack sales which were later unnerfed).

The last information I have is that changes to vendors to include item limits MIGHT be as early as publish 8 that this might also affect people keeping vendors after they have given up the skills for them has not, as far as I know, been stated directly by a dev publically. We'll have to wait and see what their plan is when they release it to us.

Have they ever even said whether "persistent" vendors (i.e., lasting after the skill is dropped) is by design or unintended in the first place?

The only SOE response to this officially comes from GarVA a moderator who states that the practice is not a bannable offense but is considered an "exploit" and will be fixed. The same very short response urges the poster he is talking to not to engage in the practice.

Thanks very much for the answer. I have a single vendor I sell power on. I am one of the people who has unlearned the merchant skill for placing vendors. I know there are a lot of people unhappy with people like me for doing this. I am trying to maintain my interest in this game and find being able to flip between harvesting, stocking my vendor, managing resale for a few other players and still being able to hold my own in the various dungeons and occasional PVP has helped with that. I guess thats selfish...I like to dabble and this is one of the features that was a major draw to me for this game. It saddens me that dabbling has become viewed so negatively by Sony and the player community.

You can dabble but even dabbling requires SOME skill point investment. The way it is now you don't have to invest any.

Thanks for saying I can dabble...I feel somehow strangely reassured.

The only problem with dabbling in this game is that people want to get the best things out of a profession without expending the same skills as people who master the profession. That isn't dabbling its skill theft
