Being how 95% of us are adimantly against a /1000 crud job, and 27 pages in less than 2 days of better ideas, the devs will take notice?

I do. Otherwise..mass exodus ensues from the crafting field. And we could close this profession down for good. Maybe they want the forum database space back and that's why they are proposing change?

Honestly?

No.

I haven't seen another Dev posting in that thread since the original, so I'm guessing that they don't care what we think.

Again, Dev's, a little communication goes a long way. At least say "Oh, we hear you" so that we know our screams of anguish are at least amusing you.

I disagree with you guys. I'm not too cynical to lose hope. Seriously, over 30 pages of better ideas and "no"s from 1/4 of the population of this game will be enough to stop and make them rethink.

If I'm wrong, and they go through with it...then I'll be too cynical and agree with you guys next time.

How will it all play out?

Where are the Devs that started this whole proposal? Why haven't we heard from them since the initial

"Hey guys, we thought up this GREAT idea to moneysink the economy and lessen the load on our poor database!! Check it out! "

Could it be that they don't really frequent the boards that much, especially such a low popluated class as the Merchant?

That's what I think.

No, of course not. The only reason they posted anything is so that after they go ahead with the change they can come back and say, "We asked the community for thier input and we feel this is in the best interest of the community at large." Notice that they only asked for us to give our input, not that they actually cared what we say.

you are all still making a big assumption: SOE doesn't care. I'm sure this is farthest from the truth. And you will see, when they decide how to remake this situation. Still 30 pages without any feedback is par for the course, but I'm sure they've noticed, and would guess that there's been at least some interal discussions about an alternate plan.

I not a big time seller of items. I just sell bulk resources for 1.5 - 2.0 CPU but if that vendor fee comes in as stated I simpl will drop being merchent and sell only when I need money. The dev should take a hard look again before deciding to use such an outragous formula vs somehting akin to a sales or income tax.

The devs Blatent silence in the face of our responce can meen 1 of two things.

1. They are desperatly burring thier heads in the sand , wondering how the hell they can get out of this one. The Code is already changed and ready to hit Live (as it seams half the stuff bypasses TC anyway) and its to late to go back. When it does get introduced excuses will be made about 'not knowing' , 'Assuming it was in already' and any other excuse they can think up .. and the situation will drag untill they can find something else to take the heat off (hello commandos.. i think you know of what i speak).

2. They have heard our plea and are busy talking about what they can do to apease us .. However given the truth of the situation - i.e the Fee isnt a money sink at all , it is just a Method of lightening theDatabase load. I think its safe to say it wont be sales tax (as we all want) just a lowering of the /1000 figure.

Take your pick of the above. Either way its safe to say the chances of us getting something we will be happy with is very low indeed , given past examples.

I wish I wasn't a cynic, but that's the one I pick.

Usually, I log in to play as soon as I can. My character skills have been pretty much finished and all I do is run my shop. When there are no customers needing fittings, I add stock to the vendor to make sure I offer the best range I can.

Now, I'm sortof in limbo. I haven't logged in, just moped around the forum looking for some dev response that I'm not going to find. I feel consigned to accept these changes are going in. When they do, I will need to reduce stock, so adding to it now will only increase my problems later on. Even restocking the things that sold seems like a waste of time.

I know we will probably work around it. I worked around the item limit reduction in houses by building a second house next door, and between the two can display all the tailored items I like to. It just seems hard, when I have already had to reduce harvesters to do this, and as a result increased my running costs (buying materials), to take another cost that again seems aimed directly at those who give the most to the game.

obviously they dont give a flying **edit** what we think, and the post was just a **edit**ing precaution so they could say "Well we told you we were going to do it". they don't give a rats ass about our responses. They don't give a crap if we all give up merchant. They could care less about anything we have to say at all.

I just lost to higher priced items from my vendor from the auction being unsuccesful and it going into my stockroom. Only it didn't go into my stockroom. I assume this is because of the whole patch fiasco when they changed the names of regions and broke the vendors. I assume my items are sitting in the ghost world of the old region.

What will a CSR tell me?

A. Oh.. too bad.

or

B. Yer lying, you didnt lose them.

Either way I KNOW they will not give me them back. And when that happens that will be it. That will be the straw that breaks the back. I will spam every **edit** board here 24.7 with merchant problems till they ban me.

You are just a meat puppet to them. They never wanted your ideas, your concerns, they just wanted to be able to tell you that they WARNED YOU!

Thats it.

The only one of these guys out there I even see trying is Vass, and that poor man just seems like he has lost all hope. It's like he is singlehandidly trying to save the reputation of the Development Team. He seems as upset as we are.

I think anyday now the whole system is just gonna go boom with us all in it.. Cries of Alderan indeed.

Are you kidding? Holocron made a post about Factories. That same post, the one HE STARTED got up to what, 80 pages? And when confronted about that thread he said HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT THREAD THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT AND THAT HE HAD NOT SEEN IT!

Endgame is we lose.

I have a sinking feeling they will go forward with their formula as planned.

Not a chance. The fools have made up their mind. Only question is how many days it takes for the economy to collapse, and how much less money will be removed from the system since everybody sells via email. I guess the silver lining is the chaos this creates will force them to re-evaluate the entire merchant profesion, and make real and meaningful fixes in a month or so when the whole house of cards collapses.
