From an in-game email that was forwarded to me:

"This is a warning to all merchants that I know. One of my friends' house was robbed last night. She lost well over 500K in resources along with some probots and other droids that she makes. People are using an exploit which allows them to pick up and take anything from your house, including things from your vendors. Granted there is not much you can do about it, but I thought it would be good to get the word out in case you had no idea about it."

Anyone know more about this? Sounds serious.

First I heard of this. And I agree. This is absolutely serious if it's accurate. I hope you forwarded that in-game mail to a CSR? An exploit like that needs tracked down and squashed ASAP!

I wonder if this has any relation to somemerchants suddenly finding their vendors empty but everything seems to be in working order?

Just a quick question..How do they know they where robbed and the stuff did not wipe itself out? As this has happened before. I am not doubting the report of missing stuff and I hope she gets her stuff back....just curious really, did she witness the act? If so can you get names? We can then ban them from shops to avoid them robbing again.

Thanks

This happened to me. Resources, crates, and far more were missing from my home. Not everything in the house was missing, only items from a particular room. I reported, it, relogged, tried other things. Hours later the items were still missing. Finally got help... it turned out that the items were still in my house (all of them) but somehow had become invisible. I still don't know exactly what happened, but I was very relieved that the items really were there after all.

The disappearing items are a daily event for me.

Short true story - I call it 'Groundhog Day'

I travel from Coronet to Mos Espa to deliver some merchandise for a customer. I need to craft the remaining items while in his house (experimentation didn't matter, so). I get there and trade him one set of goods for some credits and proceed to make the rest.

After a few minutes, I'm done. He's back in town by the bank, so I run to meet him. I get there and the pack of items I had just made is gone. Poof. Ok. Time to relog.

I log in and find myself sitting in his house again, with the resources I had used to make the second pack but without the second pack. I've got the original pack with me that I had sold to him (minus the $). Oh well, I guess I rolled back or something.

I run back into town and figure I could just do the whole thing again at the bank. I get there and now this pack is gone. Ugh. Relog.

I arrive at the bank this time when I relog, as expected. Now I'm without either pack, my resources, or my $. Ugh. At least the round trip ticket I had bought was still there so I could get out of that temporal nightmare.

Oh well.

About 3 weeks ago, I bought a new FWG5 from a different merchants vendor, to replace my old one that I was afraid to repair before having a backup. As soon as I took a shuttle, the new gun disappeared. The next day, the new gun was back but the old one disappeared....

Yesterday, both guns were in my inventory.

I no longer ask questions. I don't want to know. I will simply pretend that it was there all along and go on with my life.

basically if you know the exploit you have to spell it out...if not here than on some fansite...

  1. only when the exploit is widely known will the devs do anything

  2. if i know how an exploit is done i have a better idea of how to protect myself and my property.

The person who forwarded me this email has been playing since beta and reads the forums. So it is not just the common disappearing item problem. I have been reading reports of people able to take items from backpacks that you put down in your house. Just a word of warning.
