Thread: Seeking Advice From the Merchants
Greetings all,
I've recently been getting into architect and need a way to sell my goods. I do have master artisan so I can place a vendor, but I'm not really interested in pursuing Merchant. I'd really like a listing on the planetary map, the npc vendors and all that fancy jazz, so it kind of leaves me in a lurch.
One of my friends was thinking of going for Merchant and we were talking about ways we could both make money. I don't think he's really into the crafting as much, but he does like selling stuff. What kind of arrangements do peoplemake in these situations ? Have him setup the shop and maintain all the merchant type stuff and I pay a weekly fee ? or a percentage of my sales ?
Is it feasible for people to be movers of goods without really being producers ?
Any suggestions or words of wisdom from people who have worked out similar situations ?
Thank you in advance.

Nice, that works !
Thanx !
That works, another method (useful if your merchant is starting out and doesn't have a lot of cash flow) Sell him the items on consignment (for a small fee even 1 credit) then have him pay you when he gets paid. You need to be able to trust each other for this but I have run several very successful vendors in this manner.

I opperate our PA vendors and it is sometime a pain to sell stuff for others so what I would recomend for your situation since you do have the ability to set up one vendor, is to have your merchant friend open a shop and advertise it etc. Then if he lists you as admin on his shop you will be able to place your ownvendor in his advertised location. This will keep youfrom having to offer things to his vendor that he has to buy then when they sell hehas to tip you the money. Believe me it can be a pain in the @ss. If you can operate your own vendor in his shop it will be much easier.
It doesn't have to be and if we succeed in getting better tools it will be even easier. If you work on the relationship I think merchants and crafters can work together very effectively.

Is there any chance they will ever add an admin option to vendors so you can have someone have direct control over the vendor? It would sort of be like the public bazaar except it would be limited who could buy off of there, I suppose.
I don't know. I don't really support that in any unlimited fashion. I think the merchant should still be involved in any transaction on their vendor.
The ideas I really like are:
Consignment sales (commissions to you bulk of the MSRP sent to the "seller" of the item)
Revamping the Offers Screen (remove the 25 item limitation, add a MSRP (suggested price) etc
Admins for Merchants (but only allow Novice Merchants and higher to be admins) This allows you to have an apprentice, or to share your workload with fellow merchants. Giving this to everyone pretty much makes you a vendor leasing operation which I don't really like. I think you are still a valuable person in the relationship and I dont' think you should be completely out of it.
