It seems like items vanishing from vendors is a growing problem. Given that I noticed items starting to disappear from my vendorover the last few days(11/27-11/28), I have an idea of what may be happening.
The 'big patch' which allowed for 30-day item sales on vendors was implemented on 11/13. Under the old system, an item would be on sale for 7 days, followed by (I believe) another 7 days that you had to retrieve/resell the item before it was automatically deleted. This means a 14-day windows existed on vendors before items were destroyed.
My theory is that there is still logic in vendors to clean out items after being in the vendor for 14 days. I know I restocked my vendors on 11/13 and 11/14 to take advantage of the new 30-day sale window. This means the 14 day cleanout period started 11/27 and 11/28.
All items I lost were of my original 30-day stocking back on 11/13 and 11/14.
This is just a guess, but a guess based on previous behavior of vendors. So for the time being I am going to make sure I remove/restock all my vendor items before they hit T-16 days.

I'd like to personally thank Eutock for his analytical evaluation of what was transpiring with vendors. I knew something was hosed, but wasn't exactly sure what. Due to his quick thinking, and the support of everyone here, today we are getting our items restored.
Three cheers for Eutock!! (/hug)

Yes it was a great catch. Thanks also to everyone who came behind him and validated that opinion. Tested it independantly and gave me the ammunition I needed to bludgeon the disbelievers into belief.
Also for the most part the merchant community did a great job on this issue. We were upset, yes. There were some rants and that is understandable, but for the most part it was post after post of detailed descriptions of when things were put on sale and when they vanished. That allowed me to cut and paste a dozen or more examples into posts for the devs to see that it wasn't just a couple of peope with odd configurations having this problem it was peopel from all galaxies from all planets..in many differerent areas who were reporting it. That helped get the issue identified as quickly as it was and also helped convince them that there needed to be a solution to the item loss above just letting the CSR's try to handle the hundreds and hundreds of claims.
so three cheers for Eutock and everyone else who helped track down and kill this bug.

Also, good work to everyone who contributed confirming information, and kept all the threads bumped.
Thanks, also, Doc for getting the info to the devs and facilitation the communication.
And finally, thanks to the devs for realizing the severity of the problem, and providing a great fix!
Thank youCinderr. ![]()
I have to say this Merchant forum works really well, a model for the other profession forums. From the correspondent down to the contributors, this problem's analysis and resolution appears to have been a very efficient experience. There's always a degree of rants and complaining, but this one worked out for the best in a timely manner.
The irony in all this is, none of my lost droid deeds were recovered on Saturday. ![]()
You know, after seeing how your items were listed for 30 day sales right after the Nov 13th patch, it makes me wonder if
A) Monthly logs are in place
B) If only the December log was used for the item restoration
C) If all the items not returned on the restoration came as a result of a script being run through a log that failed to cover the period of Nov 27th - Dec 5th pertaining to deleted items ( the dest logs)

Given the timing of the reponses on the issue, this is quite possible. It may have been practically too late to recover items lost in November.
I did bring this up but I don't know what the date was. There was a date cap though. You guys are probably right about it being Dec 1. I'll keep asking about it.
