Ok, I'm not entirely sure if this was suggested before or not. A few of my guildmates were talking and we came to the conclusion that it was rather annoying to find vendor's that were registered not having anything on them, and this came to mind.

Instead of Registering a Vendor on the Map and selecting a category, you plainly Register a Vendor. Now the way that it determines what category, or categories, that it is placed under is determined by the type of items that the Vendor has. If the Vendor doesn't have any items on it gets placed under a new category, guess we can call it out of stock. This way when people are searching for things they know which vendor's have stock on them and which ones don't.

I like it! I hate travelling across the galaxy only to find an empty vendor and a 1 credit access fee. I think the player should get to choose the catagory so they know what type of vendor it is but then the map will gerate a stocking level rating.
