*Copying & Pasteing
Open your Options menu
Select Keymap (bottom on left),
Select Chat tab
Find and select "Chat Edit Copy"
Rebind {select Rebind, press button(s) you would like command mapped to}
Apply
Find and select "Chat Edit Paste"
Rebind {select Rebind, press button(s) you would like command mapped to}
Apply
If given a message that this may interfere with another command,
either continue and then Rebind the overwritten command,
or choose a new binding for current choices.
You can now copy from any 'active' text in game and paste into emails, chat, /note, macros.
This is attached to your Windows Clipboard, so you can also copy text out side of the game, then paste it while playing,
or copy it into your 'notes' {which is found in your login profile folder contained in the SWG directory} and access ingame via /note.
*Less Linear Labels
Open up a new email {or use /no}
Type in your sign, label, or title as you would like it to appear.
Have a nice day! May become:
Have
a
nice
day!
Select text by highlighting with mouse.
Hit Copy key(s)
Place cursor in labeling box (for item or house or whatever)
Hit Paste key(s)
If you receive a "windows clipboard was null"
you either did not bind keys correctly or use the correct keys to copy.
Check your sign or wait for product to be done to see if typing is correct.
*General Color
Color may be applied to structure names, bags/backpacks, basic text, and certain chat.
Basic text includes Emails, descriptions area, bio, and /note.
Chat that may be colored includes auction, vendor barking, AFK reply, reply, guild.
Basically everything except spoken chat like yell, say, and shout.
To add color you will need to type \# before the #'s that match the color you want,
just before the word(s) you want that color.
Just press \ once! It and the #'s may disappear if done correctly,
though not always depending what you are naming.
Here are some basic colors.
Type \# and the corresponding #'s before your words you want colorized.
Remember to use the white code if wanting to return to normal looking text.
\#660000 \#990000 \#FF0000 REDS
\#993300 \#996600 \#FF6600 ORANGES
\#666600 \#999900 \#FFFF00 YELLOWS
\#006600 \#009900 \#00FF00 GREENS
\#000066 \#000099 \#0000FF BLUES
\#660066 \#990099 \#FF00FF PURPLES
\#000000 \#666666 \#FFFFFF MONOCHROMES
{ei: \#00ff00EXAMPLE will give you this: EXAMPLE }
For highlighting colored text you may want to ENTER a few times down past your last typed line.
Then begin highlighting from the bottom of the empty lines you just created.
This will allow you to highlight the \ & #s at the beginning of the lines easier.
For chat, place a period (or anything really) before the \ or you will speak the #'s instead of haveing colored chat.
It may take some practice to highlight correctly, and even more to adjust everything to the look you want.
Above all play with it and try out all you can.
If you would like a ingame email of this to reference to, post your SERVER & INGAME NAME
I like to go into Microsoft Word, type in what I want, and do a character count on it. Then just copy from Word into the game.
Signs longer than 2 lines long will be cut off now due to a bug that the devs will probably never get around to fixing. So just keep your sign to 2 lines or less, and you'll be happier...

I think the signs are limited to 128 characters or so. This includes the characters for the colors, like \#FF00FF, etc...

it is in essence the exact same thing as we have for sigs here on forums
those who have their text size set to largest will see just a few letters.
If Mad Ani is right, then you might be able to re-size the text for your sign and get your missing lines back. She's in a bad mood 24/7, but if you can sort through the venom she infuses in her posts, you find she's usually right

How do you change the size of the text for the sign? I'm a HTML noob.

never in a bad mood just in a no nonsense one ![]()
{edit: you know instead of beating around the bush I kinda hack thru it and weedwhack what's left later}
and the bugger with the size of text, it is on your client side only,
so even though you can see your sign with 3 lines, others if not set to same text sizing, won't
so either make a great one liner, make a double text hoping everyone else can read, or stick with the full thing knowing at least you can see it ![]()

I wish we could have our visible signs back.

I actually think more people do, then we think. I know everytime I get off a shuttleport and there are tents right there, I look to see what it has in it, and if I see something that might interest me, I go and look. I bet I am not the only one that does this either.
which means several hundred players are not seeing signs anymore.

Well what most of us {I think } are referencing to is that signs do not display under the 'show signs' option anymore
they have been under the 'show names of items' since CU/RotW, which means several hundred players are not seeing signs anymore.
I know after close to two yrs, most players go to shops from overhead or waypoint,
even clearly labled one line things such as VENDORS INSIDE gets over looked
The vendors inside signs, definatly don't get anyones attention. But I was in beta and been playing ever since, and I guess I just got used to doing it the old fashioned way. Of course, where I do my regular shopping, I have certain vendors I go to anyways, but when I travel and see a spot that interests me, I might take a peek...depending on wha the sign says.
But most of my info on which shop to go to....is compiled from all the people in my guild, and friends. hehe Truth be told, I think that is the most common way, word of mouth. But occasionaly I will get off the shuttle and do it the good old fashioned way....read the sign in front of the tent. lol. ![]()
