Thread: Vendor Idea To Help With Inventory

Hey All,

Was thinking about this on the way to work, and thought it would be an easy addition to vendors, with not much coding involved (or so it seems).

We already have the ability to see all of our sales in the galaxy. Bringing up every item on every one of our vendors, including Price, Location, and Name of item. Wouldn't it be very useful to have an "Export" button, that could take those names, prices, and locations.. and Dump them all to a Comma Seperated File (CSV)? Something that could then be imported into Excel, or easily manipulated to be inserted into an access database?

Even just the Price/Name/type/Location would work. Since that information is already obtained once you click on "All" or "Entire Galaxy". But it would be nice to also include the time left on vendor. Anything more would probably require a lot of interaction with the server, and could cause more lag.. but I would be more than happy with just name, price, location and type.

I myself, keep an excel spreadsheet of items I have, how much it costs to make that item, and how much I sell it for. I've tried keeping inventory, but it just gets to be a hassle (especially when selling Pets). Something like this export feature would benefit my business IMMENSLY. I could then export a list every night, and check the differences to see what was sold, and what still remains. I could then keep better books on my sales and spend more time stocking the items I'm low on.

It could also stop me from having to access my vendor so much. Since I run 2 PCs at home, I play on one, and use the other for websurfing and accessing my spreadsheet. If I could just check my exported database, instead of running to one of my vendors everytime someone says "Do you have any harvesters in stock?" then I could answer a lot quicker (especially when they catch me during a harvester run), and lower my traffic to the vendors.

What do ya think?

Yes we've asked for that /vendorsave or /salessave feature for help with inventory systems. No word on how difficult a suggestion it is yet.
