I dont follow this board very much, so the idea has probably come up before:

The basis of the idea is to give Master Merchants a new usefull skill. The idea came from looking at the current merchant nerf/improvements (depending on which side your on) people are complaining about, lag in the major NPC cities, the emptiness of many PRC's, new abilities that were granted to Doctors/CM's/Entertainers with the City publish, and other factors.

The idea: Allow Master Merchants to place a Bazzar terminal in PRC's.

This would not be a vendor, but an actual Bazzar linked to all the other NPC bazzar terminals, and would function the same as any Bazzar in an NPC city. This would provide incentive for people to travel out to the PRC's rather than lagging Coronet, it would provide all the crafters without personal vendors a local place to put their goods up for sale. With the increase in vendor price limit, the Bazzar will be mroe attractive to many small-time crafters.

What we need instead of a Bazaar terminal is an automatic consignment vendor, where anyone can offer items for sale at whatever set price, and the vendor posts it for that price automatically. When the sale completes, it gives a percentage of the sale to the person that offered, and the rest to the merchant that owns the vendor.

Of course, the vendor would still be subject to vendor limits (vendors and items), and the people offering would be limited in their max 25 bazaar/offer sales. Obviously, this vendor would only be of use to a higher level or Master Merchant that had spare vendor slots to offer such a service. Alternatively, any vendor could be made to support this, so the merchant could do regular sales alongside consignment sales on the same vendor, and it would simply be a toggleable state that the vendor could be put into. This could be available at some level of merchant, like someone with Hiring 4 having the 'Consignment vendor' option, or something.

There's probably many many things that we could do to expand the merchant class beyond what we can do today, but what it ultimately comes to is better/automated tools to do the same tasks.

My understanding is that there were suposed to be bazaar terminals in Player Cities but that there is a techincal issue with them so they weren't included. I don't know if they ever will be.

If they were included they will almost certainly be placed by the Mayor and cost the city 2000 credits a week and return no money to it. How do you envison this being profitable for the merchant?
