Thread: Master Merchant Vendor Item Cap & Item Restocking

Maybe it's just me but I am about to have a melt-down regarding managing my vendors.

I am a Master Merchant, have been for a long time. I don't mind using my points to keep merchant skills so that I can sell and advertise my wares.

My issues: space and how often items need restocking (and the way we need to restock them). I have been in this game since beta, and over time I have accumulated A LOT of stuff. Mainly resources. As a Master Merchant my vendor mix is now full. Yes, I hit the cap. And I have over 100 items stored in backpacks as well in 1,000,000 increment resource batches. I prefer to keep them as a resource, not have to stack them in backpacks for storage. But as I keep running out of space more and more items end up in my backpacks on the vendor. If they implement items in backpacks taking up just as much space (not 1 item) then I am toast. The game will be over for me as I won't deal with it.

As a "Master" why do we even have caps anyway? Or if nothing else, the longer we have been in game, and accumulated more items/resources, etc.. the more storage space we should have. As a chef and a shipwright I need LOTS of different resources for both professions. And both go through a lot of volume..so when something good shifts in, like lets say berries that I KNOW I will need long term, I might grab 10 million units of it (I harvest some and buy others). By doing this for the past 2 years I have built up a great inventory of things I need....but now I am also having to pull my hair out as I have run out of space. This also leads to issue #2.

Issue #2. I CONSTANTLY have stuff coming off my vendor. Beep- email, beep- email, beep- email, beep- email, OMG....worse than the Chineese Water Torture!! Two days ago I had, for instance, 400 items drop off my vendor at one time. You know how long it takes to relist 400 items, even if your using 99999999 and putting them in for storage. What a nightmare. I see a lot of folks in this game who just go out and kill stuff, etc.. Is that what they want all of us to do? As someone who loves making things and selling things in this game, frankly it is getting to just suck. I spend hours every night just trying to keep my vendors stocked back up. And UGH, if I happen to be out of town for a day or two in RL and I don't stay caught up......lets just say this happened this week and I spent 5 straight hours of game time relisting everything. Not really what I want to pay $15 a month to do. Am I the only one who is VERY frustrated over this and need a change?

I never felt like I would leave SWG but suddenly things like this are making it seems more like work and less like fun. I even changed my accounts from paying every 6 months to paying every month....probably not a good sign for my longevity. A bunch of my guildmates left for WOW and I sneered at them, telling them they would be back to SWG...yet here I am frustrated and they are getting even more excited about WOW. I don't want to leave this game but we need help. Some of the recent changes have been great, don't get me wrong, but this is one that needs fixing pretty quick if you ask me.

Ok, I wll end my rant. But frustration makes for a tough playing partner and at some point you just need to hang it up if it continues. Am I way off base here?

I completely agree with you. The restock option NEEDS to be put into the game. Luckily most of my stuff is sold before it expires (one of few BE's on Starsider) so I don't have to deal with restock much. When I do it's a pain. Hopefully the dev's will realize there are unnecessary time sinks for crafter (combatants have been getting all the love recently) and put this into the game.
