I have read most of the posts about the new system here, but ONE point seems to be left out:
The fact that when you have ONE database (sorted from 1 credit to 99.999.999 credits) you will have to search even LONGER for your item. With the current vendor system, you simply look at the top 10 Highest Priced Items on the Sort you are looking for. And you know those are the best on that Vendor (E.g. a PH or a VK). When you have the Worldwide Search option you will get like 200.000 VK's listed from say 1500 credits (unsliced) to 60.000.000 350+ max damage Ultra Rare. All the Items in between will not be seen, unless you scroll through 2.000 pages of weapons (if you can even search per weapon). Or even more, say only option as today 2-handed, you will get 500.000 weapons or 5.000 pages
So you will never see the difference between, say mine 35% damage sliced 198 max damage VK for 100k and the 35% damage sliced 198 max damage sliced VK for 250k from some-one else. You will NEVER know what the stats of the weapons are until you examine them ONE BY ONE.Well good luck to the lazy to walk people, but scrolling and examining 500.000 weapons will take longer
I think no-one has looked at it from this perspective.....

yes I have been thinkign the same. The picture they showed us was the the interface of showing your own vendors. If it use the same interface it will be useless.

They will definately need to give users the ability to narrow the parameters, such as being able to do it by planet. And the catagories will most definately need to be rethought, but I disagree with you for one simple reason...
I would spend less time searching a clunky database than I do now going from planet to planet, vendor waypoint to waypoint lloking for a specific resource. Anyone who has had to do this knows what I mean...

I quite like going from planet to planet and looking around different vendors. This is how in most if not close to all cases I have found some really interesting small time merchants tucked away in the corners of Rori or Talus. Everyone wants everything at their finger tips and forgets that half of this game is exploring and looking around.
Allowing a central location for all transactions and pick ups to be made is a bad idea on many levels and compeltely negates 2 trees of the merchant profession.

I don't want centralized pick-ups. I've been against that from the beginning and have not changed my stance on that. I too like to explore, and often stop in at shops I pass...
But when I am crafting, and I need 100k of High Quality Colat Iron, I get real tired of going to "Vendor: HQ Resources" and hundreds of others just like it that have one or two "HQ" resources that aren't what I'm looking for. And even if I find Colat Iron, the stats I need to be HQ as an Armorsmith will differ from the stats another crafting profession will consider HQ...
But from a centralized location, I can find Colat Iron with 900+ stats in SR, UT, OQ and Mall, buy it, then go pick it up...
And while I'm there, I may buy something from the "Vendor: Loot" or stop in at Billy Bob's Bodacious Buys as I zoom by on my speeder.

I've thought about it from that perspective which was one of the reasons I wasn't in a complete panic about the whole thing. The system will not work the way it was described in that post. The volume of sales is too high with the poor searching skills that exist and the lousy sorting functionality that exists. For this plan to even function they will have to make several important chagnes to the bazaar system.
This whole idea was slapped together without much thought into the process and absolutely no care for the impact it had on the merchant profession.
