Thread: Setting Up Shop Idea

Probably a million other people already thought of and are doing this, but just in case anyone else is as slow as me.... :-)

I have a shop where I sell furniture. I have display models laid out all over the house in the most pleasing display I can make. However, not all things are always available on my vendor. (That's an understatement! These people clean me out like wolves. he he.) So people often have no clue how much things cost, and either don't buy or send e-mails asking for detailed price lists, which eats up time.

This week I went through and made all new display models of my products for sale. I named them all with my prices in the name. Example: when you hover your mouse over my Modern Bookcase, it says "Modern Bookcase 800 Credits".

I did this for all my items, and it's already gotten me some very positive feedback in my e-mail orders.

Hope that helps.

Not a bad idea, except for a few things.

1. Price change. Depending on my resources, my finances, and the market, I often raise and lower prices. And you can't change the name of those items once you've made them.

2. Sometimes I sell my display models, rather than make the customer wait around while I craft another one. But if you can't change the name, then the customer would have an item called Modern Bookcase 800 credits in their home, which isn'tvery appealing.

My solution is a price list that I emailed to myself in-game, and which I forward to my customers. This allows me to change prices as needed.

That's a pretty good idea too. (The price list e-mail.) I've not yet run into a situation where I felt compelled to change my prices on anything. (I price very competitively and harvest my own stuff at a fixed cost. I rarely buy any resources except hides, and I have a steady supply of those from friends at a fixed cost.) I've also never sold a floor model. But I can see where that could be a concern.

My tailor buddy has been doing this since beta. Works great If I could elevate weapons I'd do it myself. Also I can't avoid people slicing my weapons which then would give inaccurate info to people examining the weapons. Soon as these 2 bugs are fixed I'll do it as well.
