Thread: My #1 problem with vendors
I know many merchants dislike the fact that you get the first two vendors at Busniess III and Business IV. I do not really think this is a bad thing. But what I do think is a bad thing is how you can just produce a vendor out of thin air from the house terminal.
I am a droid engineer as well as merchant. One of the major problems we have is a lack of variety of droids, and an even greater lack of usefulness in the droids. Well, it occured to me the other day, why can a merchant just produce a vendor out of nowhere?
I think that all of the NPC vendors should be obtained the same way they are now, but be the most expensive vendors to use.
The vending machine type vendors would be slightly cheaper, but would have to be crafted by a master artisan.
Finally, droid vendors would be the best and cheapest vendors to maintain, but they would require a droid engineer to craft them. They would cost extremely little maintainance, but would requirea supply of droid batteries (about one per day).
What do you other merchants think? As a droid engineer, I feel that all droids, even the vendortype should come from droid engineers.
I disagree. And your coming here trying to tell us the way our profession currently works and it should be changed to favor your profession may face some resistance. We have enough problems with our profession that we don't need any changes like the one you describe.
Now, if you could offer good reason or some advantage of getting droid vendors from a Droid Engineer then I'd like to hear them. But if you think it's just because it's not fair then that's not going to cut it.
Hey, thats a bit more rude of a responce then I had expected. I am both a merchant and droid engineer. I am experiancing both professions. I am just trying to look down at the entire game spread before me, not simply see the game through the eyes of just one profession.
Why can a merchant obtain a droid vendor out of nowhere, at no initial cost, when there is a profession specifically designed for crafting droids?
I know thatmerchants have complaints. Just about allprofessions do right now. Personally, as a merchant, so far the one and only problem I have with the merchant profession is just what I stated above about droids. Everything else seems great about the merchant.
I also do not want to buy them from anyone. We are broke, please do not break us more. DE's have their own set of issues, if your driods are broke (many are) then we would be toast.
Sorry for the reposting
As a merchant, I would be interested in buying a droid vendor from a DE if it had the normal capabilities of a droid, and a vendor module that made it a vendor. It should alos have all the normal vendor capabilities -- particularly barking.
This means it would follow me around town, barking ads and processing purchases. Or I could set it to stay under a tent or patrol all the populated areas while I went and did something more fun.
I think this was originally intended for Ad 4, but got nerfed when someone calculated the number of spam messages per second each would generate. Not barking at every new customer, just an occasional /say to nobody in paticular every couple of minutes would be quite satisfactory. Even just a visual indication that he was a vendor (say a cart) would do.
If the barking worked, I would want a probot with the vendor module. I suspect even then it would get killed a lot
