Thread: Simple Solution: 1% Sales Tax For Vendor Maint
Okay, so the Devs want to fix the vendor maint. All fine and good. They want the "economy" to suck some of the money for the galactic economy out of these vendors.. which is also okay.
Their current solution simply doesn't work, and it's fairly easy to see why. If I'm an arch or bulk miner, I get killed.. absolutely killed with maint fees for large ticket items.. even if I don't sell them. Should you get smoked with fees if you're not selling anything? No.
The answer is very simple. Add in a 1% sales tax for each item sold. That's fair. It adds the money to the economy as sought, and it keeps it reasonable. Those selling big ticket items get taxed accordingly and ONLY when they sell an item.
It's also universally fair in that everyone gets taxed for maint in the same exact fashion.. based on the value of their goods sold.
It's not only fair.. it's easy.
So devs, stop the mess with trying to figure out how to do it another way... which kills bulk sellers or archs, or weaponsmiths who have big ticket items that may or may not sell.. and do it with a simple univeral sales tax %.
Easy, clean and realistic.

As I stated in another post, I am against any 'percent' (okay even tho 1% is very very minor) for this reason:
A chef, an architect, and a tailor all work hard to reach their master professsion. They each have a store, with maintenance, harvesters, etc. The chef's top selling item is 500 credits. The Tailor's top item is 10k. And the architect's is 100k.
A percent of sales tax punishes the crafter with the high ticket items, and seems quite unfair. If they made the bazaar useable for these, then it would be a moot point. But forcing people to use vendors, create stores and player economy, then punishing them for mastering an expensive craft defeats the purpose. Just my opinion.
I would suggest a per item or flat fee based on Vendor level (Npc/droid/machine)...tho 1% is managable I admit....just don't think the dev's would go that low.
With the current solution we pay 3.2 % of the total value of items in the vendor PER DAY.
I'd gladly pay 1% sales tax instead.
