Thread: Concerns From a Master

This post is mainly to list what I foresee as chronic issues or bugs and problems with our profession.

1) We all have the same issue with the daily reset causing our advertising listing to be reset. Why isn't the server taking a snap shot of those settings?

2) Ad barking stopping after approximately 1 hour of game play. Also, Vendors turning to face womever they are barking the ad at. Isn't it nice to come in and see your vendor staring at a wall?

3) Premium sales/auctions. How exactly are they identified as a premium sale. Right now your auction/sale ends up "towards" the top of the list. So does 5,000 other sales. Merchant premium sales should be set apart from others via the use of colored object names/listings. Also, this would require the nerfing, yes I said nerfing, of people being able to change the color of an objects name when they craft it. Thos os you that do it know what I am talking about. No need to teach others how to exploit the color codes.

4) Human female vendors end up being bald. Even when created via customization, the vendor somehow loses her wig between our inventory and when she is placed in our store. From what I've heard this bug is sporadic, and doesn't affect everyone. Personally, I'm tired of bald human females.

5) Vendors are still eating clothing handed to them on occasion. I still experience this issue. Supposedly it's fixed. I'm tired of sumbitting tickets and /bug reports when the ticket sits there for a month unanswered.

6) Theextra vendorsline works fine and so do the signs. The name filter could still use a tweak. Can't call anything a Supermarket, odd.....Also, making a vendor named "Live Naked Twi'leks" passes the filter....even more odd....

7) Some praise for our class. Reduced maintnence fee's are sweet. It says 80%, I think we really get a 75% reduction. Either way, it's the only good thing about our profession right now.

8) We need purpose. We're supposed to be masters at buying and selling things cheap. So when do I get my prefered customer discount at the local bazaar terminal? When do I get the ability to buy things cheap? Aye, we get to "sell cheaper" because the money sinkholes are reduced for us, but beyond that, there's no inherent benefit.

9) We need unique titles. We have 1 title, Propagandist. Businessman is borrowed from artisan, Foreman is borrowed from Architect, and if memory serves me right, Manager comes from DE or Architect. Why does all the other profession get 4 unique titles at level 4 skills, but we only get 1 Unique title? SOE has no excuse, only needs to change one line of code probably to change that.

Anyhow, these are the "major" issues right now. The rest weask for as a profession are wants, and not needs. We need to get these issues resolved before they add new broken or unfinished content. I do agree we need new content. Maybe when player vehicles come out we will get blessed. I would love to run around with the title "Used X-Wing Salesman" wouldn't you?

Thank you, and I agree.

I want to come up with new titles for most of the lines. And as a master, I do not want "Master Merchant"I want "Power Broker" or "CEO". Why not give us a few, so we can pick.

Aye, SOE should fix the reusing of our titles. Also, besides having current issues fixed, I think we should be concerned about the future of our profession in the game. Player cities was designed with the intent to make Architect long lived, and player mounts is for the creature handlers. When player vehicles comes out, rumor is the droid engineers will get that ability to produce those. So what future do we have? Right now we aren't even a full profession. Honestly, we are half of a profession or a support profession. SOE should be clear as to what we are. As stands, honestly, all we can do is make vendors, have cheap maintnence on our buildings, and run around with one nice title and talk to people. The fact that artisans get vendors nullifies our viability in the game, and honestly, does anyone ever pay an access fee to enter a building? With so many things that are wrong with our profession, why isn't SOE paying attention to us. I think they are sending a clear message that we are not as important to them as the other professions.

Thats odd considering merchant is one of the most popular professions.

I am keeping mine only until player cities come out.. hopefully our role will be much better by then

I won't surrender master merchant for nothing, but I'm starting to feel the begginings of discouragement.

Well, after sittingpoised to become aMaster Merchant for quite a while, I have given up. I didn't want to sacrifice my precious entertainer skills for the feeble advantages (at least for a non-tailor) of the hiring tree and master, even though I was sitting on the experience to master the profession in a few days.

I have given up entertainer now, and didn't use the points towards Merchant. Thetemptation to use those skill points for combat and and crafting skills became unresistable once I had the experience accumulated. I couldn't see waiting any longer for Merchant skills to become valuable.

I am relieved, in a way, to see nothing of real significance in this patch for advanced merchants. Had some killerability been given to a master merchant, I might be regretting my decision.

I expect now, that some of my other Merchant skills are going to be sacrificed though I do expect to keep selling things. Once the NPC vendor fee fix goes in, I can drop all the way back to Bus 3 with little loss in ability.
