Thread: Billboards
I was just thinking how it would be great if along the lines of the advertisement skills, We could gain the ability to put up billboard. Just singns that we could put up anywhere where we could advertise our waypoints and mabey even our "special of the day" and stuff.
Perhaps we could even gain a couple of extra lots with advanced merchant skills instead of just 10 lots. This way we can put up the billboards. It could even be a special lotjustfor billboards. Mabey gain an extra billboard lot for each advertisement skill just like we gain an extra vendor for each management skill.

There are billboards in game,there's actually a whole class devoted to making billboards...Sometimespeople mistakenly call them "droids,"but rest assured they are actually nothing other than walking billboards. 
Thats not what Im talking about. I mean a sign you can place just like a structure. In well trafficed areas. no droids no creatures. Just a sign. you can change the name easily orrelocate them as you wish. There's plenty of talk about how the merchant skill offers no real benefits. This isnt much but its something.
I can only have one droid out at a timeand Im usually crafting with it where ever i am. The idea is to have a sign in well trafficed area even though you may be elsewhere totaly engaged in destroy missions or doing whatever. If you have advertisement 2 you would be able to place 2 billboards. if you have advertisement 4 you could place 4 billboards.
I am a Master Chef so it would be great to advertise my restaurants throughout the planet and the galaxy. I get a lot of people that just walk by and notice my place and thats when i make a certain percentage of my sales. I just would love to increase that kind of sale by having stationary signs in strategic areas.

Yes I knew what you were taling about, but what I was trying to say was that since there is no billboards, makeshift ones are in use now! I mean sure a structure would be great I doubt that is ever going to happen, You can only "write" so much on your pet or driod! I board could hold more.

How about this:
Theywould cost(1)lot while they were up.
Theywould cost credits (lot rent) and power (lights). No credits, it comes down, no power, can't be seen at night.
Put a time limit on how long it can sit in the same place and we are set.
Hey Architects could build them! We could even charge to put ADs up for other people.
This is a great IDEA!
But, I can see problems with the billboard idea. I think maybe having the ability to put more formatted text on our structures, perhaps, might be nice... but with houses already named "Visit Dewd's Shack of Meds and Guns Next Door Vendor Inside email Dewd for orders thx la" in fifteen rainbow colors, I shudder to think what true billboards would do to the landscape.
Maybe a better solution would be some sort of advertising bulletin board we could buy space on, something like classified ads with cheaper rates for things you just fill in basic info, and higher rates for freeform text (display ads). Maybe 10 cr/day for a basic form: you click on an item you're selling or advertising, it pulls the item data, you put in a price, it adds your name for contact. Then 100 cr/day for 50 lines of fully formattable, colorable text. Put them in the cantina and med center, where people will read them while bored. Kind of like those bathroom ads now. And you could pay more for broader scope... say, the above rates, per city you want your ad displayed on, and another 100 cr per additional planet.
I think the global map advertising is supposed to fill this role...haowever, Ive always thought the idea of a central city "bulletin board" would be great...to make announcements of interest to the locals, ads for your vendor, and most importantly want ads. credits would be charged per day up front and people passing by would have the option of reading the bulletin board. It would work like the bazaar or these forums, a list of posts and you select a post and it has a more detailed message.
Most importantly, "we have the technology!" it could work almost identically to the bazaar, but instead of placing an item that could be sold, you would place a posting, which would expire at a time you give or after a week. heck it could even cost 20cr (though I would charge much more)

Well you didnt seemuch of anything on tatooine for that matter!!! I sure as heck didnt see all those houses everywhere!!! Not starwarsey??? Maybe they just didnt show those parts of tatooine!!! Lol, or maybe they should make it where you can only place it within so many meters from your shop
Billboards? droids? Well, I did make an AdvBinary Load Lifter named "BuyDroidsFollowMe" and had it patrol from the cantina to my store...
