Thread: some minor bit from the dev chat
Dariuas: *Vanye* Will there be some sort of Marketplace for crafters to put Vendor's rather than going from house to house to go shopping?
GreenMarine: So, this isn't related to player cities and might show up afterward or at the same time, but we do have a set of open tent structures for Merchants only that will be going in. You can place your vendors in the tent and people will hear the vendor bark as they walk by. You can also place a few decorations in the tent to customize it. I don't have any ETA on that. It's half implemented on my machine
As cool as tents would "possibly" be, they need to fix the **edit** bugs before they go "improving" our class. I would much rather have a 100% working class over a class that was 70% broken that just got a few bells and whistles that aren't even that good.
I set up my shop with decorations and everything else, and now they are wanting us to use a **edit** tent? What gives...
The most interesting thing about that statement to me is that GreenMarine seems to be involved in merchant development at some level.
I don't mind the tent idea. I think it might be a good one. There are tents in Bestine with bazaar and banking terminals. They are definitely a different looking structure that draws your attention.
I also don't agree that they should fix all the bugs first before adding features to this profession. We are drowning in a lack of features to give us meaning in this game. Fixing 100% of the bugs at this point would be a waste of time if the profession is still lacking in meaningful skills to contribute to the player economy.
Doc, I agree, and I don't
I think that both can go on at once. And given how this dev team is broken up, it will. They are 2 groups bugs and improvments, and they do not cross each other.
Marqie,
My point wasn't that I thought they should only work on one or the other. My point was simply this, if they fixed 100% of the bugs in merchant it would still be a crippled profession due to lack of features. So we have to have both. The original poster's statement that they should fix the bugs before adding new features doesn't work for me. They MUST fix the bugs AND finish the development of this profession.
I have been patient and waited for the critical changes to our profession to be made or at least addressed/acknowledged. Seeing the patch notes now, I am done waiting, and am surrendering all of my merchant skills that I paid thousands of credits for, selling my houses, furniture etc.
I am going to be a Ranger and live in a tent. Screw this!
They are 2 groups bugs and improvments, and they do not cross each other.
Ok, that statement worries me just a tiny bit. It seems like if two different groups are working on code for the same system, they'd darn well better "cross" each other once in a while, or they'll be botching up each other's work...
