3) What are the per-vendor and overall limits if I have12 vendors?

1) 12 vendors, 4000 items for a Master Merchant

2) 6 vendors, 4000 items for a Master Merchant

3) 12 vendors, 4000 items for a Master Merchant

4) You get 4000 items to spreadover your vendors as you see fitfor Master Merchant. It's not about the quantity of vendors, but the quantity of items. You could have 11 vendors with 1 item and 1 vendor with 3989 items, or you could have 1 vendor with 4000.

5) Vendors can only be placed inside structures, some of the winderness planets do not allow player structures I believe (however I may be wrong, this may have changed).

Now that we can place 12 vendors for a Master Merchant, please let me know if you think these would be a good strategies for placement and management of a Master Merchant's12 vendors:

1) Have at least one vendor per planet (except for wild planets like Dath which may not allow vendor placement, I need to verify this tonight). This would maximize visibility. This is also true of bazaar terminal sales: I keep all bazaar terminal slots for my 6 chars filled, and find that having items in a mix of major and minor planets' bazaar terminals gives the best results. I have even made sales in bazaar terminals in hole-in-the-wall starports on places like Endor.

2) Place vendors as close as possibleto major starport cities, and not just on major planets.

3) Place vendors according to the following priority, from most preferred to least preferred: a) in Mall b) in Vendor Tent c) in Small or Medium House. If in a Mall, try not to sell same type of items as any other vendor there. Avoid congested areas like the nightmare thicket of vendors outside Coronet.

4) Master Merchantplayers should avoid getting entagled in Reb vs Imp issue, and place vendors in both Reb and Imp towns, selling to both sides impartially.

5) Place vendors in Player Cities where possible. Cultivate good releationships with mayor and other leading players in the Player City. If you can, have your chars set up residences in such Player Cities and become citizens there. Perhaps the mayor will refer customers to you if he knows one of your chars is a citizen of his town.

6) Have multiple chars -- I have 6 in Flurry -- to maximize available lots, and to have plenty of alt chars who can be made residents of Player Cities where vendors are located.

7) Join merchant-oriented guilds, multiple guilds if you have multiple chars, to get inside information on resources etc. and get information on such issues as Mall locations and what type of vendors are in each mall. Maintain good relationships with guild leaders and members, make yourself visible by posting to your guild's web page.

8) Keep prices low to maximize volume. Recently I have cut prices to a maximum of 6cpu (from an earlier max price of 10cpu), even for super resources like Class 4 Liquid Petrol Awec and Talus Water Vapor Vinot.

9) Try to maintain good relationships with a few big spending advanced players (example: Master Doctorsmake goodprivate customers), without devoting so much of your harvesting/crafting capacityfor their needs that your vendors are starved for items to sell.

10) Encouragecustomers to offer items to your vendors, to encourage better relationships with players and also have more items, and more diversity of items, to sell at your vendors. Treat customers honestly. Once I gave a 5K credit refund when I accidentally charged 6K for a resource instead of 1K as I intended, and noticed that some one had purchased the overpriced resource. Keep all promises to customers offering items to vendors, to town officials, to customers big and small, and to guild members/leaders.

11) Even though it's a pain try to have lots of cheap items in small quantities in your vendor(s), so even the noobiest of Noobs can find something in your vendor(s) he or she can afford. Whenthey have more credits perhaps they'll come back later and buy more expensive items.

12) Check other players' vendors, and check bazaar terminals, to find out what is in demand and what prices are being charged. Use websites like www.swgcraft.com to keep informed about what is going on in SWG.
