Thread: Vendor May get Deleted?

I loaded up my vendor with a bunch of stuff right around the time ofPublish 10. The vendor is pretty self sufficent. And I have made a number of sales from that vendor each day. Then the other day I got a couple e-mails from my vendor.

The first one says that my vendor is in good working order.

The second e-mail warns that my vendor has not been used for a number of days, and may be in danger of deletion. (note: this vendor made a sale not more that 6 hours before the e-mail warning was sent)

The strange thing is that I have been making decent sales from thisvendor. So I know the vendor has been "touched" by customers. Its justthat I haven't needed to go outto visit or restock since publish 10. But after 1.5 weeks I started getting warnings. Needless to say, as soon as I saw the e-mail I went to my vendorand "touched" him. I am wondering if anyone else has afully stocked vendor which is making sales, give warnings about possible deletion.

I'm sure that when we hit the2 week post pub 10 mark, we may learn a lot more about how the new system works.

Okay you guys are experiencing the "abandoned" vendor feature from Publish 10. Just go to your vendors and "use" them so that it registers you "initializing" it. You know, not the original initialization when you place your vendor, but the one you get anytime you access any vendor/bazaar. That should do the trick, just make sure to do that every week and you should be fine. To be extra safe maybe you should check its status and maybe deposit some maintenance as well.

and exactly such is an very unneeded feature here. its work for nothing, serves not even 1 positive benefit, plus its no fun.

this feature has to go and replaced by empty AND untouched.

a stocked and maintain payed vendor dont need a 2 week touch.

what if u go on vacation, got powerout, or whatever happens? then all stuff goes poof? why? for what reason?

i got skills for vendors i pay them loan and i have them stocked, why the heck they dshould run off and abandom my shop (aka deletion)

i stongly hope this gets changed. its a pain in the butt to 'touch' things unneeded, when all works fine.

i like the vendor changes mostly, but this one feature makes me think how braindead someone must be to develop such :/

sorry for rant, but it makes absolutely no sense at all and dont imporve this profession any bit.

I've mentioned this in a couple of other posts but...

I visit my vendors daily and maintain them -- my alt even visits them. But I still got the dreaded message on one vendor on Intrepid and one on Bloodfin. I think it may be due to the fact that the "abandoned" vendors haven't had a sale in a while. Butthey're high-end, so I didn't expect them to.

I submitted a ticket and the friendly CSR asked me to try having my alt purchase something from the vendor and see if I'm still receiving the message. Which 1) leads me to believe that my theory is right, and 2) doesn't resolve the issue now because I'd have to wait to see what happens in 2 weeks.

Besides, 2 weeks is too limiting. If they're going to implement this "feature" we should have a longer time before it happens. A lot of people take 2-week vacations, lose power from storms for 2 weeks, etc.and you can't always count on someone visiting your vendors as a favor. And since they don't show up on the map unless someone visits them to begin with, you may not get any traffic at all. Then what happens?

Well, I'm better than dirt! Well, most kinds of dirt.
I mean, not that fancy store-bought dirt.
That stuff's loaded with nutrients. I can't compete with that stuff.

Chalk up someone else with this warning. And I only mastered Merchant post publish 10. And I know the vendor has been used in the last week because my girlfriends character used it. To be safe Ive removed all my goods from the vendor so as to not risk deletion and lose my goods.

This "feature" is stupid.

An "untouched by owner" vendor is going to auto-delete in 30 days (sales) + 30 days (stockroom) + 2 weeks anyways.

But yet the owner of the vendor has to play touchy-feely once every two weeks with said vendor, even if it is otherwise actively making sales!?

Stupid.

Can't even take a two week vacation in real life with this feature.

It isn't a needed feature. Should be removed.

The Devs really do need to clarify this. We need very specific rules for this. This isnt like us asking for specifics on how experimentation or something like that, this is affacting the way we do business! I mantain a vendor on a couple different vendors for a crafter, and I only need to visit it maybe once a week, sometimes a little less (I get free food in compensation for slower sales), and yet the vendor gets used by customers at least 1 time a day. In my opinion, ANYone using the vendor should count as it being "touched". This way, if a player goes on a 3 week vacation, their regular customers or even friends can keep the vendor active during that time. I have not yet gathered enough emperical data to offer a summary of my experiences with this yet. Lets hope the Devs will give us the info we must have.

we can put this in just a few words really.

it is unneeded

it serves not any benefit to the profession

it dont make sense

conclusion:

remove it and add it to the empty vendors

aka

empty AND untouched = 2 weeks deletion

(cause if soeone goes on vacation you can stock at least some items, so 30 days time, then going to stockroom= another 30 days, then 2 week later= delete vendor / this would make sense and gives ppl over 2 month time to for break, desaster rescue, vacations or whatever)

but to delete a functional and maintained and stocked vendor after 2 weeks!?!?!?! sorry dev (whoever had the idea) bad job and in my company i would lay you off. yes i lead a company in real life and my employees not running off after 2 week i am on vacation , why? cause they get payed aka maintanance.

regards

This "feature" is totally appalling. I can't believe this. One step forward, 86 steps back. What the heck are the devs thinking of?!

I would sure like to know what DocSavag has to say about this...Doc, is there any word from anyone official about how this thing works, whether it is bugged, why in the name of the gods it was even implemented, and how we can please get it removed and placed on the empty vendors instead?

The instant I lose a single vendor to this bug...because to me it is nothing more than a bug, whether or not it was implemented on purpose...is the day that I cancel my account for good. No turning back.

This deal gets worse all the time...

Doc has said in one or two other current threads (in this forum I think) he has inquired but still has not received any kind of response from SOE on this (and some other) issue.

Thanks, Martek...haven't had a chance to read up on all the threads because of work today.

I should have known that Doc was on top of this, he's one of the best correspondents out there.
