Thread: RE: I have all these skills, now what happens if I give them up?
Quote: " I have all these skills, now what happens if I give them up? Right now due to an oversight in the code it is possible to surrender all of your merchant skills and not lose any vendors or real functionality. You lose the ability to add new vendors, change adbarking or re-register the vendors. But everything continue to work as it did before. The SWG Development Team has confirmed with us that this is not the intended behavior of the game and that it will be fixed in an upcoming publish to require you to maintain your skills in order to continue to operate vendors as a merchant. Until then many merchants consider using vendors without skills to be unfair and would suggest that you don't do it. Let your own conscience be your guide. "
I think that is a good way of putting it myself, although what you said about a specific sticky about the subject rather than adding it to the guide could have more of an impact. However we do have a point of reference already, if people choose to read the guide to the profession (even browse the highlights to find the answer) before actually asking that question it shouldn't be a problem..
Personally.. If a vendor is dropping items.. Evil is the only word which springs to mind. (given all eventualities where the stock has not exceeded the given time limit).

Its already been stated multiple times that the 7 day limit is intended and is not going to change. Its not going to kill you to relist your expired sales items once a week.
If you are using the vendor purely as a storage device this is not its intended use and complaining about it is not going to help. If you are going on vacation or want to store something long term, I suggest you put it in your house or manage your lots better so you can place a house or equipment factory to store items.
hmm. i had 3 accounts once. i had all seven vendors going once. i had items just waiting to be sold. you dont put up all of the items on the sell list until the ones already there are gone. my house was full of stuff. my other accounts had a few houses, factories and harvesters. the factories were even storing stuff!. i put all my resources in the factories unless i was selling them. i had a few runs of fiberpanels, synthcloth and other things stored in the factories waiting to be sold. vendors loaded with crates of stuff.
i dont get what you mean. i had all sorts of storage situations. houses, factories, vendors. i was just starting to be known for selling stuff at reasonable prices, just starting to make a name, then "poof". and explain this, why is it called a STORE ROOM?
i used to play about 2 hours a day, 3 at most. that is at most 21 hours a week i played. can you relisting over a 1000 items between 7 vendors in an hour? or maybe 2 hours? ok lets figure this out here. i spend 10 seconds an item, that is being generous, that is a total of 2.7 hours. ok sure i will do that once a week. now that is assuming i dont have deliveries or harvesters to check. so lets add that in, lets say it takes me 1 hour, that is being generous, to check my harvesters, thats is not including the time i have to spend possibly knocking off some creatures, and if you figure doing that once a day, that is 7 hours a week. oh and now lets talk about having some on various planets. add in an extra .5 hours per day. so now we are talking about13.2 hours of game time just to keep all my things producing. why once a day? because if the maintenance bug hits them i need to get them up and running again. further sometimes server restarts cause them to stop and waste time. further, resources shift so often that if i dont check at least once every 2 days, they are stopped and wasting time and money.
factor in starting up factories to do a run of something, say another hour a week. that is now14.2 hours. okay now half of my game time is working to play a game...
where is the fun in that. and if the vendors happen to be slow? like 30 second to 1 minute or more per item? where is my game time?
so okay, play more. sure i will give up having a life for a GAME.
NOT!
