hi

lets say i want to make a merchant for a custom order dropoff and pickup.

the droping off part is easy, person comes in, drops their item to my vendor for a set price.

but, is there anyway, that i can do some work on that item, and then put it back onto that vendor, so only and exclusively that person picks it up ?

if so how exactly does that work ?

thanks.

It doesn't.

Pretty simple answer hey?

At present, there is no way to have a vendor "locked" for only a specific person. In the main you have to deal with the honesty of the passing parade of customers not to buy the waiting order. Most people are pretty good about this and if they see a backpack marked "Order for Joe Bloggs" will leave it well enough alone. A few though will actively hunt these out and buy them in the hope of getting some nice discounted goodies for resale (we had a couple do this on Valcyn a few months back) and will send an alt in to make the purchase so that they can resell the marked up items with their (to you at least) unknown main character.

Anotherissue is that once you place a vendor in a house, that house is permanently public (ie, can't be made private), so even restricting access to the vendor location is not possible.

With enough merchant skill, however, you can set a high access fee (50k max) on a structure and put a vendor in it. If you add the "customer" to the ENTRY list, they can get in without paying the fee.

You still have to relyon that customer's honesty to not buy custom orders for anyone else, but at least you'll know that they are the ones that did it.

Once they pick up the item, you'd probably want to take them off the entry list.

I use a method like this for my "Close Personal Friends of Elyssa" vendor.

I even ask them to offer the container back to the vendor for 1cr when they get their items.

We also would like to be able to rent out vendors, or at least I would like to... dont want to speak for anyone else.

My custom order vendor is in plain sight in my house.

I make sure that all orders are kept in bags, it stops other people knowing what the order is and taking off with a bargain. Not many people are willing to spend 100k or more on a bag without knowing what is in it.

Also, I have some Decoy bagscontaining junkto lower the chances of them taking away a bargain. Give the bags the name of your friends, maybe brief them on what you are doing so they don't buy them. Stick them on at a price to make them seem as genuine orders.

I have a "Read Me" note on the vendor saying there is no refunds for orders brought belonging to other people. So far I haven't had any problems with people taking other peoples orders but I keep this up just incase.

I like to fill the decoy bags with little custom items. You know, like " 170,000 credit crafting kit", etc...
