Was really chuffed to get to Master Merchant last night - of course, on my wee server there's no way I could find a MM to teach me, so Management IV and MM cost me 19k at the guild hall... ouch! Being a MM is no guarantee of wealth, it turns out, especially as a beginning weaponsmith!
So, now that I've come this far... should I keep it? I've no use for a mute pink protocol droid! The vendor maintenance reduction isn't too bad, but hardly a major motivator (I've enough combat skills to run missions to make the difference in an hour or less!).
Is there anything else I'm missing about being an MM? Can't find mention of anything else in the FAQ (DocSavag's Guide). If not, my plan is to surrender the skills as I need them to progress up WS, leaving me with Merchant 4042 (the only desirable box in Efficiency is Eff IV, and even then it's not worth 14 skill points!).

The tents are a good signal for it being a hop, they are easier to place then larger buildings, and only take up one lot. If you do not do your business on a planet that uses naboo houses you might think about keeping efficiency 4.
I can tell you now that if you plan to sell every weapon as a WS you need all the lots you can get for harvesters.

Honestly.. there isn't much point in keeping merchant at all... especially since at the moment you dont even need to keep it to keep your vendors. But... assuming the devs get around to fixing that sometime before the game fades into antiquity... there still isn't much reason to keep it unless you just want a lot of vendors and think your customers care about what they look like.
My recommendation would be to set up your vendors.. keep enough management in order to 'legally' keep them... dress them, and then drop to 3002. If they do decide to change it, you will have enough extra merchant exp that you can get hiring back if you need it.
