Hey guys I play on the server Ahazi, and my character's name is Eanis Harding. I live in Healer's Haven and i am a doctor/merhcant. I only have advertising 3 in merchant right now and i am finding it very difficult to make any kind of money with my situation right now.
I sell and make docotor supplies and meds and can't be found on the planetary map yet, so its real hard to get any1 to find me. I do advertise at cnet starport, but that only brings few. I sell great meds at awsome prices 30/439+ Stim Bs only 1k each! I just wish people knew about me. Merchant exp is very slow going, and i dropped tkm to be a seller, but now im faced with selling being my only source of income. I can't do janta or mokk missions anymore for 27k+ a pop, and im going broke fast. Right now my only source of income is my buffs and those are quickly running out and i only charge 10k for them 2541+ power. If any of you merchants have any tips or anything to help me out i would be grateful im still new to this and im not sure what i am doing wrong. By the way if you wanna check out my shop the wp is 2184, 4196 on Corellia.

Stage yourself a little ad campaign on your trade forums for a start. Throw in an ad showcasing what you're selling and your prices, maybe even throw in a couple of discounted items to draw a little traffic your way. Make sure to keep it bumped/ or just make new ones every couple of days.
Nothing too obnoxious of course, there's a fine line between drawing your customers in, and drawing your customers ire...

Since you sell singles for 1k each you can put them up on the bazaar with the description and location of your vendor in the item description. Beyond that e-mail repeat customers or customers that buy a few at once with your shop info. There isn't any reason why you shouldn't make money on the bazaar just because you have a vendor. Just make sure you keep stocked whatever you advertise so you get repeat business.

Take a look at your location - are you close to a lot of traffic like a major city? If the answer is no, get a better location.
As well, raise your prices. You will not sell more just because you are cheaper. If your volume is low, you need to make up for it by increasing your margins. Right now you're saying to yourself "this guy's cracked, my sales will get worse!" ... no ... they won't.
Once you get Advertising, and you have a strong location and your margins are healthier - you'll be a very happy camper soon enough.
Build a reputation of always havinga stocked vendor. Players will gladly pay more and always come back if they know they won't be confronted with an empty vendor.
Increase your buff prices as well - at least until you're in a better money situation. Trust me when I say, you won't have an empty line. At 2500+, I bet you can get 15K without blinking an eye and have a long line.

If you want to move product the best location is right outside (<1km) Coronet or right outside Theed. These are the most traveled ports in the game.
Planetary advertising is a joke IMHO. It's overly crowded. Spam Coronet, the trade forums and the auction channel.
It's also good to get in a shop with alot of different products. Armor, weapons, food. People hate to travel for their supplies so having everything in a one stop shop is key. Organize with your guildmates. It doesn't have to be a large fancy shop either. People really don't care what it looks like as long as the product is good and easy to find.

Definitely keep listing on the bazaar and email buyers a waypoint to your shop(careful not to spam though). The bazaar kept me financed until I built up a good customer base (and still helps get the word out). In fact, the bazaar listings were and are the only way I've ever advertised my shop and I'm quite please with its success!
Many of my vendor customers are previous bazaar customers, so it seems as though my blurb worked to some degree. (I have an ad thatI cut and paste into each bazaar listing.)
You may even want to consider selling your stims for more on the bazaar with a blurb aboutthe savings at your shop.
Showing up on the map will definitely help once you get it, but it's a bit of a slow go until then.

All I did was put an add on the forum, stating what I had and general prices.
Logged in that night and my email was full of sells.
I find most of my shops from the auction forums, and in peoples signatures.

Maybe it was changed, but I thought Advertising 3 was sufficient to register your vendor on the planetary map.

Hey you're right, Slim! With Adv3 you should be able to register your vendors on the planetary map.
