I see a lot of vendors with colored names. How do I do this?

Vendors or house signs?

I havn't tried recently, but vendors have always been very picky about their names and don't let you put in any symbols, etc. House signs though you can put hex RGB values in to change the colors.

The vendors themselves cannot have coloured names, however, they can be given coloured messages to bark.

ive seen houses wih colored names .. how do i do his

In game name: C-J
11pt Master Chef / Artisan / Master Pikeman
vendor - on corellia near coronet
-847, -3632 (inside large house in main room)
Jacs: Buffs - Meds - Resources - Chef Food - Shipwright - Artisan - Tailor

offer winnigs to the chef food vendor

For a house, use the following format:

\#000000\

All text following this will be black - the numbers are hexidecimal and can describe any color you want. If you're unsure of hexidecimal colors, check out http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_colors.aspif you're unsure on hex #'s.

Ex:

\#006600\ Rahu's \#999999\ Fine Food and Drinks

^ Rahu's would show green, the rest would show in white.

BTW, if anyone can help me with gettingcolors to work onproduct names, I'd really be excited, lol I never did figure it out and gave up a long time ago. I'm still driven nuts by other folks' products that I see that have nice colors in them...

We used to be able to color the name of crafted items but they took that ability away a long time ago. (Messed up the way items listed by categories on the bazaar or something) Any items you still see listed that are colored names, will be very old items crafted before they nerfed it.

Only products name that can have colors in it are backpacks.

Everything else will ignore the color codes

Interestingly I tried that and SWG won't let me type the \ character in the house name field.

Any ways around this?

When you type the \ into the house sign text box, do you see the cursor move over one space but no symbol or character appears? At first, it didn't used to do that, but several patches ago it started and now you have to type \ a second time, it will appear then, and you can continue typing in your color code. After you click okay, the sign name sometimes will work correctly, but sometimes it shows the \#xxxxxx too. If it does that, go back into the sign text box, cursor back to the beginning where you will now see there are two \\. Delete one and hit okay again. That should fix it.

The double \\ with one invisible happens if you enter your code strings into notepad too. I have no idea why or any other way around it. Just manually delete the extra backslash.

If you type it in the ingame notepad first and then copy/paste it, then you'll not see the color code. Once you type \# both signs will vanish and the next 6 letters will not be shown either. After that the text that you type then in the notepad will be in that color.

If you should copy it the colorcode will be copied with it.

Remember to put a \#FFFFFF (white) at the end of the text in the notepad or the rest of your notepad will be colored
