Ok, so now my vendors have become a real pain in the a$$ to maintain.
If I want my vendor to show up on the map I must:
1) Make sure my vendor has current items up for sale
2) Make sure someone has purchased or I have sold an item to my vendor once every 14 days.
3) Make sure my vendor is paid
4) Visit my vendor every day because, well if I don't, they won't show up on the stupid map.
Now explain this logic? In order for a vendor to appear on the map, they must be visited first by someone who knows they are there in the first place. If I don't get visitors to my vendor and they don't buy anything, then they won't show up on the map that they don't show up on anyway unless I visit them to make them show up so visitors will come see them and.........AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I put my vendors in out of the way places, not so out of the way that nobody will visit them, but out away from ALL THE OTHER 10000 VENDORS
SOE has made using vendors very, very difficult. And yet they refuse to fix the one bug that makes them almost useless.
Perhaps, maybe now, since they have weened the bad vendors out of the system, maybe they can fix this little thing and make vendors usefull again.

Wow. Did not realize that using vendors was that difficult now. I am just starting to go up the Merchant skill tree now. I guess I will have to use my alt. accounts to generate some artifical business if things fall apart like that when no one checks out your vendor. Since the devs just recently gave the merchant profession some attentionIassume it will be quite a while before they fix the current issues with it.

#1-3 are just part of doing business.
#4 has to do with the way the game works.
Objects inside of buildings don't load into the world until someone needs to see them.
Once the first person visits your building (whether they click on the vendor or not) and everything in the building loads, your vendor will place itself on the map if you have enabled it to do so.
It has always been like this.
In fact, in ages past, you actually had to manually re-enable the map placement EVERY day.
This system isn't perfect, but it's an unfortunate side effect of the way the game works as a whole.
The down side is that if your vendor is in a low-traffic area, the odds of someone entering your building and loading your vendor into the world are low.

I've talked to the devs about this a number of times. The challenge is finding a way to get the vendors to load when the server loads but not totally swamp the server loading objects that no one is around to see. The on demand loading was put in many months ago to make the start up of the server much more smooth and it worked before it was put in half the structures wouldn't show up for an hour after a reset. Now its much better. Unfortunately this causes the issue you are seeing with the vendors not registering on the map right away. One day I hope that gets resolved but its not a simple issue it will require some backend changes to the way the server loads and such changes aren't made lightly.
