Ok, I have a bone to pick about the vendor system. I put an average of 500 items to sell on my tailoring vendor. That doesn't count the vendors I run for friends where they can have me put anywhere from 10 to 100 items on each. Now, I am also a rifleman and enjoy having time to go out and fight. But I have no time. Why? Because I am constantly having to reprice inventory. And I am careful to keep prices the same for each item type so I spend 1 hour each night repricing items I put on my vendor over and over.
I would have no problem with this if it was a fast process of clicking a button to put an item back up for sale at the same price. If I wanted to change the price, I could hit another button. That still wouldn't be an ideal solution, but it would be a start.
Personally, the ideal solution would be to have the items stay up for sale until I decide to remove them and never have to worry about inventory work. I know one of the reasons this is done is probably to help getting rid of abandoned vendors. But, it would be just as easy to send an email to the vendor's owner occassionally asking if they wanted to keep it. If you get a reply within 2 weeks, they do. If not, you destroy it. I would say sending one of those emails once every 3 months would be reasonable.
My other beef with vendors in the inability to share admin control of it with others. If I could let othersput money in the vendor or choose to destroy it if I decide to quit the game and leave it sitting in the way of the new cantina they want to build, it would be better for the city as a whole. I'm not saying give others the ability to put items up for sale or withdraw sales or change barking. I realize those should be left to the merchant since they had to use skill points to get those vendors. But if I want to go on a real life vacation and leave my mayor in charge of seeing that none of my stuff goes poof I should be able to.
I enjoy being a tailor and need the merchant skills to keep that skill viable. I've tried other things in the game instead of artisan skills and, alone, I don't enjoy them as much. But being a merchant has become more a job than a game. I hope that the system is changed someday. Until then, I've already cancelled my subscription to Star Wars Galaxies. I will check periodically with my friends who still play to see if it improved and then consider coming back.
