Thread: Stealth Nerf to MERCHANTS

We have our merchant barking droid and they work good, but the nerf comes in at the point whare you log into space you can no longer have that droid braking. Its stored!

For all others this seems like an ok idea but for a merchant this is a nerf. Now I can not set my droid to bark and run space missions at the same time

I never really knew if this was considered a bug or not. We used to be able to place several droids all over the galaxy, and as long as we weren't on the planet, the droids used no batteries . Seems like this would be unintended in the first place.

But you're right. I went to go advertise my shipwright friend's business, and as soon as I used my ship to travel from one planet to another (didn't even 'launch into space' - just 'travelled'), my droid stored. If you don't use your ship and you take the shuttle instead, then it works like it used to. You can have several droids out all day, spamming whatever you want. This change is either a bug, a nerf, or a bug fix.

No matter what it is, it needs to be addressed by the merchant community. If it's a bug, then it obviously needs to be fixed. If it's either a bug fix or another intended merchant nerf, then I think DocSavage needs to get involved. Whether it was a bug or not, we need the ability to leave a spambot somewhere for extended periods of time while running missions in space.

Spambots are 1 of the very few good things that make merchants unique (the only other noteworthy good things for merchant are more items on a vendor and planetary registration). Of these, spambots are in my opinion just as important as the other 2. If it was intended that we could only have 1 spambot active at a time, that it would last only 45 minutes or so before it needs to be recharged, and that we have to be in the same area as the spambot, then I say spambots are 100% useless. That nerfs about 33% of merchant (this is huge). If that's what was intended, then we need to lobby to change merchant so that spambots are useful. If the recent change was unintended, then we need to get it fixed. Either way, we need the ability to leave 1 or more spambots in various locations for extended periods of time (many hours) while we go play in space.

Which part is not a bug? That we used to be able to do it? Or that we can't use spambots effectively now?

I'm not sure that it was aimed at Merchants but it was in the patch notes about storing droids that were out when you launched your ship. This probably has more to do with preventing stacks of droids who were following their masters from ending up sitting at the space terminal in Coronet

Any chance we could get this listed as an official merchant issue? Whether it was inteneded or not, we need to be able to use spambots effectively again...

This is fine but it needs to change. what use is a braking droid now?

With the way it is now, its pointless to have a barking droid.

I'll bring it up. Not sure where that will go.

A suggestion for a possible fix: Make it so that droids that are made to "stay" do not get auto-stored. If people are using the the "stay" command, they do it for a reason usually.

It wasn't stealth... it was in the patch notes in beta. I said something about it, but couldn't seem to get any player support. The only people that seemed to bother replying to my message were people complaining about bots left to spam at the starport. Of course, I pointed out that if it weren't for those bots players would be there AFK spamming more often than they already are and AFK spam is far more annoying then bot spam (bots have character limts and such).
