Thread: Question about barker droids..

I dont really know if this message would be better in this fourm, or Droid Engineer. but i think i will post it here first. If i were to make/have a droid made, and i put ONE barker merchant module in it, would the droid only be able to say one line of text? And if that is the case, could i put say Three barker merchant modules in it and couold it then say 3 line of text every 30 seconds or whatever?
and when i set my droid to do his little barker thingy (let say in coro) would his data stayin my data pad? or would he go away while he was on barker? and if he runs out of power, does he still shout stuff?

That's an interesting question regarding multiple barker modules. I highly suspect that these do not stack and you would only be able to make your message 120 (IIRC) characters no matter how many modules you put in.
As for the second question, any time you call a droid (or any pet, for that matter) the PCD remains in your datapad. This is true if you're 1m from the droid, or 2 systems away. Toward the end of JTL Beta, the devs made a change so any pets or droid left out when you launch a starship (even simply using the "Travel" option) are automatically stored. This means the only way to have a droid stay at the starport and bark is to travel using public transportation.
And as for part 2 of that question, it seems right now that if you aren't close to the droid (eg, you have it start barking, tell it to "stay" or "patrol" and then take off using public transportation) it doesn't use any power. It's probably a bug, but a useful one

Well i am also a master DE and almost master merchant. i was just wondering cus, i think (not sure, has been awhile) that last time i played for any ammount of time (2ish months ago) that i was seeing barker droids yell out multiple messages... but i dunno
and about the second part, i only ask this, because the last time i played also, i saw a barker in coro that was on for hours at a time, and i knew for a fact that his owner wasnt on, or even in coro...
Ok, so that means that, when i get a barker and set him up in coro, that i have to use transports to get around, and not my yacht?
ok that makes sense i guess...

I wasn't playing during the time frame they put these in so I didn't get to see the original sutff on 'em. I suppose it's possible that the character limit is something they added as an after thought.
I don't know that I'd go so far as to say that using Public transportation instead of your yacht make sense to a normal person, but I suppose it does to a Dev
