This woudl be, i think, a great addition to the merchant prof.

A friend and i decided to work together o start a shipwright business. It went pretty well as he enjoyed REing and I enjoyed crafting. The only problem was that only i coudl use the vendor we set up in our guilds mall.

I think that master merchants (person A) shoudl be able to placea vendor and put other people (person B) on admin. I can see where the arguments might start but i wa thinking tht person B woudln't be abel to change the vendor barking or look, just be able to put items up for sale. Person A woudl be able to change the appearance of the vendor and maybe set who the money goes to. There coudl even be an option to split profits from sales between people. This way person A woudl get a % of the profits...either because it was a joint venture or maybe even as a "rental fee" for the vendor.

Anyone agree with me?

I don't.

One person in a guild would use up his skill points for master merchant then everyone rides for free. Merchant is buying and selling of goods and if you want to do either then you should have to spend the skill points like everyone else.

I would like a feature like this.

There would be less Merchants, yes. But it would still be a win/win situation, as the Merchant has a new field to make money with while the ex-merchant can free up valuable SP

Do you mean a system as proposed, or a system where you have to get a alt to do all aspects of the game, crafting&selling and combat?

The current system at least requires you to actually log into your Merchant account once a month. Allowing other people to manage the vendors for you would mean you never had to bother.

I support better tools so that stocking and accepting merchandise for sale is easier and more efficient. I don't support giving our only skill away without skill point cost. I never have and the day you see me posting that I do support such an idea you will know my accounts been haxed

I would not look at it as giving something away without SP cost, but as a possible active skill for merchants.

It could be adapted into a system where the Merchant goes to a customers house and places the vendor for him. After giving access rights (and setting a %)the customer can "place" items for sale at a set cost and the Merchant only needs to "activate" the sale.
Sales tax, eviction notes, customised item limits, all the stuff could be done...

It would also widen the customer base, as currently no real crafter has a "need" for a merchant, he becomes one himself.

On a side note, merchants could maybe "sell" a Vendor Appearanceto anyone with business 3 (or nov. Merchant) and more (with a kind of rental time, that needs the/a Merchant with the needed skills to extended it)

If you maintain the active participation of the merchant in EVERY Sale then I can go along with it and it becomes not an "admin" feature but an enhanced offer tab which I have been pushing for practically since Beta 3. THIS is the system I would support:

* Add New Tab, [For Sale] on vendors. Only persons who have been granted "Admin" on the vendor have this tab when they view the vendor.
* The [For Sale] tab has a "Sell Item(s)" button when you press it it allows you to put in items for sale much like we do now in our view. It allows you to set the price you wish to receive and the price that you wish to be the retail price. It also has a place for a description.
* Add new Tab [Pending Sales] tab on Merchant View of the vendor. This will list all pending sales put in by Vendor Admins. There are two options for each sale "Approve" and "Reject" if the sale is rejected the item is placed on the original vendor as "available" to be picked up. If Approved it is now visible for purchase by anyone at that original vendor.
* When an item sold in this fashion is purchased an email is generated to both the merchant and the originall seller and the fee is split accordingly and placed into their bank accounts.
* When an item is expired and not sold in this fashion it is returned to the original vendor as available to the person who placed it.
* Any item withdrawn by the merchant is returned to the original vendor as "available" to the person who initially put the item up for sale. (The merchant cannot retrieve these items in any way)

Other features that would be really nice to have is a percentage setting for each admin so they don't have to keep enterting the prices. Also batch sales interface is a must have for this to make it more efficient but that is needed for merchants anyway. (Basically this would work by dragging items from your inventory into a window then putting them all up for sale with the same information)

I like your proposal, Doc

There just needs to be a better way of handling the available (to be retrieved) items on a vendor, otherwise the Merchant could accidently destroy the Vendor with the Items (like it is now...)

And could the original owner withdraw his item from sale or does it need the Merchant to do it?

I would be ok with either of them being able to withdraw the sale. If the item was a mistake that wasn't caught it shouldn't have to wait for the merchant to come home from work to remove it.

They told us a long time ago that they wanted to make it so that when a vendor was deleted the available items were transfered to the nearest bazaar but I don't know what ever happened to that idea. It might have been a very difficult thing to pull off technically.

I could back it if there was a limit. You can put 25 items on the bazaar, let that include the admin thing.

Better yet, just enable consignments. But only after the current issues get fixed.

Perhaps if it was limited to just one person. You could give one person Admin to all your vendors..
