Thread: Customizing Vendor Barks with Variables?

Hiya, I'm a master merchant who can do the usual customizing of my vendors' barking. But yesterday I ran into a vendor that not only greeting me by name but identified my race as well. I want to be able to do that.

I know that from making macros that %NT should give me my target's first name and that %RT should give me my target's race. Yet when I type those variables into my vendor's customized bark window, this is what happens when the bark occurs: "Welcome, %NT, you seem to be a %RT who knows about weapons." I don't get "Welcome, Feevo, you seem to be a Zabrak who knows about weapons."

How did this other merchant customize their vendor barking like that? Please advise. Thanks!

Was it one of the 'stock' barks? Those seem to cheat and be able to use the race/gender/name stuff

To my knowledge it isn't currently possible to get the variables to work in the custom text. If ANYONE does know of a way to do it I wish they would post it here. The non-custom adbarks do use the variables successfully. Now you are going to want to asky why its so hard to get the custom barks to use them..don't because I've asked and asked and I never get any answer. It is on our bug list.

Thanks for the information; it indeed must have been a stock bark. I'm glad the bug has been reported, because it's silly that we haven't been able to use the variables when they areavailable for macros.

I'd like variables - I also want a stinking dialogue tree so that my vendors don't have to spam anyone moving around my store. They are also more likely to pay ATTENTION to what's being said from a conversation tree - and maybe, just maybe it would seem more immersive.

In a perfect MMO - it should be hard to tell the NPCs from the PCs.
