Hi,
I have decided to take up some merchant skills, cause I like running a business
I am already 1002 now, but after looking at the profession I wonder why I would go further than 4004?
What would be the benefits of going to master? More kinds of vendors? To be honest that does not interest me that much.

First off, I would say you should go to 3004, the last advertisement box is not really worth it unless you go all the way to master.
As for the efficiency line (x4xx), I personally like the 20% maintains discount on all my buildings.
And finally the hireling line. (xx4x) I like that I can choose exactly what NPC race vendor I get (even though I have to get, and fire, quite a few to get my humans vendors slim and young), and I really dislike the clothing they come in so handing them a uniform is something would not do with out.
If you are short on skill points I would suggest you do with out the management line... as for the moment, you can keep an unlimited stock on one vendor, and you have two with novice merchant.
