I am many other folks on these forums are quite concerned about the reasons behind this change constantly rearing its ugly head....
I remember the first time it was discussed: several pages of violent opposition ensued.
The topic was dismissed until January, when it came up again in an 'In Development' thread that is standing at 99 PAGES of more violent opposition!
...And now, it comes to the TC with no rationale, not a single Dev peep since it was pushed. It only makes me wonder what the deeper reasons for forcing this are...?
So, with no Dev communication on this, I am forced to envision the worst: Without this nerf, SWG will be dead in a year.
Yes, we've all heard the stories about how awful the database for SWG is, and how desperately they are trying to streamline it. Is the DB issue SO serious that this major nerf needs to go down, and you guys will save $$$ on the DB servers?
That seems to be the only logical conclusion to forcing it upon us with no rationale! So, I beg you...please tell us what the root of the problem is...I think many players can stomach something this illogical if there is SOME reason behind it!
They did communicate ... way back when ... it was discussed ... it was said what was going to happen ... the only thing left in the air was the limits on the vendors.
They also said they were going to do it after the bazaar system got rewritten ... it was rewritten a couple of weeks ago and then work on this progressed ... and now it's done.
Also .. stop assuming it's a magic bullet mentality. There are several things, as they have previously stated, they are fixing with this. Go back and re-read the dev's posts and you will see they mentioned 3 things I beleive ... one of them was Database ... the other was monopolies ... I think there was a 3rd thing, but I can't recall it right now.
So ... they did discuss it ... at length ... this is no surprise that it's happening .. most all of the changes are good ... the thing right now is the absurdly low limit they have.
Does it matter why they are limiting it? does it matter if it's just 2 reasons ... and one of them is 80% of the concern and the other is 20%? is that going to change the decisions on the limits? I don't think so ... It's not even going to change the arguments.
Arguments need to be based upon the current need ... period ... how will this impact you, and why is that bad?
Truth be told ... most of the arguments are "we worked hard to build our monopolies" ... outside of tailor, most of the arguments for maintaining monoplies are fairly weak. BTW ... I might be considered a monopoly so I am not just bashing here :-)
My personnel ideal would be 700 ... I would be happy with 500 ... I could live with 300 ... but 110 is nuts ...
