I am not a merchant.. never have been.. I was a weaponsmith for awhile, but never sold weapons ever (I just built them for guildies for a few weeks, then retired the profession)... so I know not of the woes you folks might suffer..
However... I am a combat profession and thus I am a consumer of many items... foods, armour replacement, weapons, powerups, stims, repair tools .. just to name a few... I have to shop quite often every 2-3 days just to resupply for battle (Especially if I go into pvp fights.. I expend a lot of combat gear in pvp).
As a customer, I already have to spend 3+ hours just to find a bloody decent merchant that has all the things I need...so it isn't exactly quick as it stands right now... Malls especially - while handy - can be a pain cus there can often be 15+ vendors there to browse.. I can spend just 20 minutes looking through vendors trying to find all the gear I need, or just pray I come across that "uber" weapon hiding somewhere for just the right price.
If merchants are suddenly forced to have to split all their items among even more vendors, I 'm going to have to start spending 5-8 hour sshopping just to find the damn things I need to get back into fighting form.... that is not my idea of a fun time...
I think these huge restrictions are going to hurt merchants a lot, but more importantly, the consumers.

I 5 starred you, but theres one flaw in your thinking.
There won't be more vendors. There will be fewer. About 75% fewer. Any way less in the way of selection.
The crafting community needs vocal support like yours. We need it more, we need it loudly, and we need it now.

Hm, never thought about that - but it makes sense
It will stink if I have to just settle for buying cheap equipment because the good stuff will get gobbled up so fast... and I doubt merchants want to keep restocking every hour or so
