Thread: Why do I waste the points?

Planetary Map. Tiresome? Yes. I am collecting resources to sell using only my 10 lots, 6 of which are gone
because I have a gaudy Large Corellian hom, because of storage issues. I make, generally, one or two sales a week.
And my chances of making a sale go down when my vendor disappears off the map every day. And, since I am
burdened with a JOB in real life, I can't sit on auction chat all night and spam an ad. Doc Savag, will they
ever fix this? Ever? I never cheated the system, I always had the skills to have a vendor, and I have the
skill necessary for planetary advertising. But Because I am not an uber merchant with a vendor set up
right on the front porch of Coronet, I can't pull in tons of customers. All I have is planetary advertising.
In a nutshell, this blows.
Will they ever? I don't know. The only way that I have heard of to fix it requires a fundimental change to the way objects load in the game at start up and I have my doubts that they will be willing to do it. I have asked of course and I've had technical discussions once or twice with a couple of devs about what it would take. They agree generally that its the right thing to do to get them to work right, but that is a ways out from getting someone to give them to go ahead to make a large change to object loading.

Thanks for replying. Sigh, I guess I gotta live with it. But it be bumming me out.
Oh dn't get me wrong I agree with you that its a pain that it is working that way. The difference is that I vented all that frustration to the devs months and months ago and I'm spent on that issue

Objects loading and the planetary map population should have nothing to do with each other.I can understand why they don't want to do this... but all of these little problems should have been fixed before they started on JTL./sigh
That seems like an easy change but it isn't. The problem is that all the data about who should and shouldn't be on the map is stored in the vendor object itself. So you have to get that object loaded to find out if it should be on the map.
Which just goes to show Merchant needs a ton of work. A Rifleman would have one heck of a hard time killing a Krayt without Master Rifleman and a +10 speed tape.

Just in regard to houses and storage ... the only reason to have a large house is because you like the look of it - they are theleast efficient storage per lots usage. Since you're calling the house gaudy, I assume you don't like the look. Why not use 1 lot for a factory [100 items]or 2 lots for a small house [150 items] if you prefer to store in houses, and make your home a 2 lot medium or small house, whichever you like the look of best. You get the same storage or more, for 3 or 4 lots, leaving you 2 or 3 extra lots to gather resources with.
About registering on the planetary map, I have also noticed that one shop of mine doesn't load onto the overhead map (ctrl+m), until I have loaded up the planetary map (ctrl+v). This is not true for my other shop, which loads up fine on the overhead map. The shops are next to each other, the one that loads isa tent and the other is a medium Naboo house. I've also noticed that other vendors in the player city I live in don't load on the overhead map untilI load up the planetary map either, even though the house itself and the objects in it are loaded on the server.
